NBA Draft is usually a fairly boring affair, but this year might be interesting.

Plus, KG, Paul Pierce and Jason Terry about to join Derron Williams and Joe Johnson in Brooklyn...

No deal with OKC, but Orlando did take Oladipo - could it end up a draft & trade?

Surprise at 1 and 2.

Anthony Bennett and Victor Olidipo.

Noel is going to fall maybe to Phoenix, which is kind of shocking, really.

It would have been Noel, if that was the case.

OKC has the ammo to go up, still, though, so I wouldn't rule it out at all in the next few picks.

Jeff Goodman predicted on the SVP show today that the Cavs might take Bennett. Great call by him.

Yeah, it was. I hadn't hardly heard Bennett's name at all.

Holy shit. Do the Bobcats ever want to be good?

I'm not so sure that was a bad pick.

In a draft that doesn't have the star, take the guy who's played solid in college ball. And I didn't realize he was that athletic, as Bilas spouted off his combine stats.

MOtorboat

OK. Now that's shocking. Len over Noel? Really Phoenix?

I love Bilas...

Bilas drinking game!

"He's got a long wingspan, tip it on back America..."

This draft is so crazy - teams pick someone, and then trade the player to another team. They need to have a silent draft, and then publish the final results when it is over.

That isn't a good TV event though. Showing is live like this is great drama. What they need to do is make their rules like the NFL where you can actually trade picks before they are made during the draft, that way players can actually be wearing the right hat when they get picked.

Totally agree that it would make much more sense doing it like the NFL.

So, now Denver has four centers who aren't that good. Sweet.

**** shooting. It's not that important.

I watched Bennett play this last year. Even as a freshman he looked like a man amongst boys out there. If he works at he will be a really good player.

Shane Larkin. Another under-sized, shoot first PG to be relegated to a back-up role.

Great job, Mavericks!!

He's pretty muscular and explosive. He reminds me of Larry Johnson coming out.

Yeah, but he fluxuates quite a bit with his weight.

Yeah, but he fluxuates quite a bit with his weight.

Does he? I didn't know that. I've only seen him a couple of times and he looked pretty solid both times to me. I hope he keeps it under control because I think he can be special.

I tired to watch the draft. Then I said **** it, let me know when the trades are done. I could not stand the NFL being like that. Yeah, we got Sly Williams! Wait, we're trading his rights away. There's a proposed trade. Let's wait and see if it's accepted by the league. Fuuuuuorget that.

Wow Mo, you can't get over this Gasol topic, can you? Can you show me a quote where Hollinger has ever said that he believes his PER is the only measure he uses to determine which player is better than another one?

BroncoWave
06-29-2013, 12:26 AM
I just think its going to be interesting to see how they operate now that Hollinger is in the mix.

If you think he is going to make decisions strictly based off of PER I think you are sadly mistaken. I'm sure he has a laundry list of statistical measures he uses. Just because PER is what he put on ESPN, that doesn't mean it's all he uses. For all we know, he had better stuff that he's held back in waiting for a job like this.

BroncoWave
06-29-2013, 12:29 AM
In fact, here is a quote from Hollinger where he flat out says PER isn't the be all, end all.

"Bear in mind that this rating is not the final, once-and-for-all answer for a players accomplishments during the season. This is especially true for players such as Bruce Bowen and Trenton Hassell who are defensive specialists but don't get many blocks or steals."

BroncoWave

When did they say that?

No one said that. Mo, for whatever reason, is obsessed with the fact that I think Gasol is an elite center. I really have no idea why it bothers him so much. I think he is still butthurt because I said the Nuggets don't have as much talent as their record reflected last season.
