Of the eight players who drew the franchise tag earlier this offseason, Ryan Clady of the Denver Broncos and Jairus Byrd of the Buffalo Bills are the only two yet to sign their tenders. Both unsigned players plan to skip mandatory minicamp this week, but the clouds could be breaking on the Clady front.

For the first time since last July, the Broncos reached out to Clady's camp to touch base on his contract, a source informed of the talks told NFL.com's Ian Rapoport on Monday.

Monday's detente could be a sign that Clady is progressing in his recovery from offseason shoulder surgery. The Broncos had little incentive to jump-start serious negotiations until they were assured Clady's shoulder was getting better.

Get it done already. There are some things you can fiddle with....long term with one of the best tackles in the game isn't one of them.

I hope they can get this done now otherwise it could be even harder next year.

Good that they are talking now. Get it done and out of the way. I think we will see him get the highest paid contract to a LT, so lets just accept that and get the details out of the way.

You shut your dirty mouth, King.

Nope, you guys won't pay him top dollar and after he will eventually walk. The Cowboys will shell out the big bucks and get him.

He's not the same player he was before the knee injury, but he's still very good and the Broncos need to lock him up.

The sooner this done the better then we can hall King's fat little butt back in here to eat some crow wrapped in bacon.

Clady to the Chargers is another option.
