Wow!

So I e-mailed the link to my dad and he said he was gonna e-mail Troy, one of Barrel Man's kids, and ask why the hell they're selling their dad's shit.

How pissed do you think the wife would be if I spend it on a used barrel?

Possibly, but if I remember correctly, he retired from his longtime job with one of the airlines. I would assume his widow would be getting his retirement.

Maybe they have no use for a barrel?

I mean, what are they supposed to do with it?

The Broncos Org should buy it and put it in their own HOF shrine of some kind. That dude is a piece of history just like the team is.

The article says the barrel on ebay was worn during the 2000-01 season. We have no idea if the Broncos have one of the other barrels. Would be interesting to find out.

I am guessing it is not the original but the lighter trimmer, custom designed one he wore latter in his tenure.
I think the original is actually on display in canton.

DENVER — A barrel put up for auction on eBay that was worn by Denver Broncos legendary fan Tim “The Barrel Man” McKernan is staying in the Mile High City.

Michael Fruitman, owner of Mike’s Stadium Sportscards bought the barrel Tim wore in the 2000-2001 season for $2,550.

“Purchasing this barrel was on my bucket list” said Michael Fruitman, owner of Mike’s Stadium Sportscards. “When I first read about it being available, I knew I had to own it and give the fans of Bronco Nation an opportunity to see it in person, take photos with it and even try it on if they desire.”

It's part of history. It represents one of the greatest sports fans we've ever seen. He was iconic, fans of all teams knew who he was. It stands for a great period of your Broncos. Simply phenomenal.

Yea, if I had seen it early on when it was the $500 buy now price, I would have seriously considered it. By the time I saw this, is was $2000 or so, and that was too much.

One thing I found interesting was that all the pictures on the Ebay listing showing it's use/authenticity were different. The logo in those pictures was higher/different than the picture of the actual barrel being auctioned. So, assuming that the letter of authenticity from his wife is genuine, then I guess the pictures were just from later years when he was making better barrels.
