ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- When the NFL Draft is over, the night is just beginning for personnel staffs across the league.
The next few hours of "chaos," as Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway put it, are reserved for calling undrafted free agents, convincing them to choose one team over another.
"That's where the coaches and scouts work together and it’s fun to watch them and they even become negotiators," Elway said. "I’ve said, you know, the guy that does the best job at recruiting these CFAs has the option to have the part-time job at John Elway Chevrolet as a used car salesman, so it was a good competition.”
