Last season:

Elvis with 8.5 sacks, Cutler with 9 TDs in his first 5 games, Marshall and Scheffler playing key roles on the offense, Mike Bell taking a major load of the carries;

This season:

Moss immediately contributing with pressure before his injury, Crowder making key plays in games we've won, Thomas emerging as a solid tackle, Young and Hall playing big the moment their numbers' been called;

Add to that, 3 of the 5 players on our current starting offensive line have only been in the league 2 or 3 years; if they develop into high quality linemen, that could be big. Also, we have yet to see if Harris is the highly ranked lineman he was in college.

Then DJ, who's quarterbacking our defense, has only been in the league 4 years, and also entered the league pretty young at 22.

We've got a great nucleus of young players on this team. Shore up our run defense with a good tackle acquisition, either from the draft or FA, and draft some quality linebackers for guys who might retire soon, like Lynch because of his age and injury, and we could be one of the most solid teams in the NFL. :rockon:

And then there was 2004. DJ filled in and racked up 100 tackles AS A ROOKIE. Tatum came on at the end of the year and tore it up in 2005 becoming the best change of pace back in the league, Watts was decent for a rookie WR, and now Jeff Shoate is stepping up in the dime packages when needed.

Or how about 2005 when D-Will and Fox really took a role on the field as our starting and nickel corners? None the less filling in for an injured Champ Bailey for a few games, and doing it well.

Our drafts have been nice these past couple of years.

Yep, they sure have been. And hopefully, we can sneak into the playoffs and give this young group some playoff experience that can only make them better. :cheers:

I'd agree with you.

The rookie class is doing great so far.

Yes.

Shanahan's getting the most out of his rookie classes the last couple years to make up for his 9 years of drafting blunders.

Oh, good, so you also think the draft the last few years have been pretty good. Ya, me too. :cheers:

Exacta mundo, did you all notice our number one of a few years ago is not good enough to be the #4 OT in DET, he is inactive today AGAIN.. Just one primo example of those blunders..
