I wanted Steve Beauharnais here but I'm not surprised we took a receiver.

Belichick is a master of maneuvering in the draft, not so much a master of getting picks right. The only difference between him and Shanny is that Shanny got Elway when John was at the end of his career, and Belichick got Brady at the beginning of his. Both are great coaches, not great GM's. If Brady retired in Belichick's 2nd year, he might be coaching another team right now as well.

BB seemed to be more savvy with the cap and was better at squeezing the last bits of productivity out of veterans.

Shanny was the same way when he had Elway in the locker room. Free agent vets like Neil Smith, Howard Griffith, Mark Schlereth, Tony Jones, Bill Romanowski, Eddie Mac, Keith Traylor, and a few more. All but one of those came in as vets during free agency. It was after Elway retired that Shanny started getting desperate and wasting cap money on silly free agent pickups.

Painter is basically same format we went off of. Started as a senior through hard work. Good value and added depth. Little familar with Zac Dysert... Again, Hard worker and missed time playing and not working out for scouts.

It looks like Broncos were in Sleeper mode trigger happy through out entire draft.

Bleacher report suprisingly has an accurate write up in what I saw in the guy (only seen about 3 times play and a couple little special things about the kid on pocket pressence). http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1611351-zac-dysert-scouting-report-nfl-outlook-for-miami-ohio-qb

Dysert worked out for scouts. Our staff was present....

Zac Dysert is mid-round QB prospect with ample upside

A workout conducted outdoors in the elements — 25-degree temperatures and 10 mph winds — did little to hurt the intrigue surrounding Zac Dysert in the 2013 NFL Draft.

A total of 22 teams — including quarterbacks coaches from the Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers — were represented at Miami of Ohio’s pro day on March 21. Dysert — who draws an obvious comparison to former RedHawks quarterback Ben Roethlisberger — has a private workout scheduled with the Philadelphia Eagles. According to his draft profile on NFL.com, Dysert’s skill set and college production are similar to Roethlisberger, but he doesn’t quite possess the arm strength and bulk of the two-time Super Bowl winner and 2004 first-round draft choice.

Dysert (6-foot-3 1/8, 227 pounds) went through a positional workout led by 2000 Heisman Trophy winner Chris Weinke, who now trains quarterbacks (including 2011 No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton and current Cleveland Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden). Dysert completed 54 of 64 passes in the workout, which is a good showing when you take into account the weather conditions. Dysert is a mid-round quarterback with a lot of upside, and it will be interesting to see where he gets drafted.

what would you call someone who wastes a second round pick on a guy who wont win his job against a 7th round pick?
I just think JFE was TOO close to the brock selection and allowed his personnal relationship to influence his decision. He was then too defensive about the process and has NOPT allowed brocks own talents to dictate his role !
I HOPE JFE will just allow talent and performance dictate who is our #2 QB and that we all get to see brock ON THE FIELD competing for his job!

JMCD and Tebow.
JFE and BROCK.
the similarities are disturbing!

those similarities being the draft selection and the subsequent vested interest and defensive reaction to the selection.

JFE is NOTHING like JMCD and tebow is not in thew same league, literally and figurativly with brock!
..but JFE is still guilty of overdrafting (minor infraction) and then defiantly defending and annointing his own personnal choice,
the far greater concern !

let's recap the draft so far. we have a DT, a running back and who else after that?

What people have to ALWAYS remember is that you NEVER EVER draft for THIS year. You draft for the future. The DE we drafted in the 4th round could have been a 1st round pick before his injury. Is that not great value for the future? If he starts next year, after having a full season of rehab and strengthening, is that not a great draft pick?

People need to get off this "we only have Manning for 2-3 more years".. and realize that Elway isn't just drafting for the sake of Manning. He's drafting for the STRENGTH of this franchise, for now and for the future. Getting a starting DT and a starting RB..for THIS roster, while adding in some depth at CB (which is already a strong point on the team, but needs youth) is SOLID drafting.

Ravage!!!
