Last year, the NFL starting honoring past greats on Day 2 of the draft by having them announce their former team’s selections in the second and third rounds.
Shannon Sharpe received the Broncos honor last year. This year it will be Randy Gradishar, the former middle linebacker who is still the Broncos’ all-time leading tackler. Gradishar, who has a shot to make the Pro Football Hall of Fame next year as a senior candidate, will be in New York to announce the Broncos’ second- and third-round draft picks that will be made April 26.
Gradishar made seven Pro Bowls and played in 145 consecutive games during his 10-year NFL career, all with the Broncos. He was twice among the 15 ”modern-era” finalists for the Hall of Fame but after his 15th year of eligibility he was moved to the senior pool where his chances of election figure to improve.
