Does this mean anything? Is it likely he will get a long term deal this off season?

It doesn't mean much. I think Elway even acknowledged they likely wouldn't see Clady until it was mandatory.

Sucks but was expected. I just hope this doesn't lead to an out of shape injury proned Clady when he finally comes to camp.

Brian Waters did it for years, but it was more of a CBA protest than anything else with him.

It means he's good enough at a critical position to skip camp and still start Opening Day; same reason franchising him is cheaper than paying what he's worth. There's a reason two-a-days aren't really "voluntary."

walter jones did it for years also. . . not an ideal situation, though. . . if he's healthy and plays to his potential, i'm sure they'll get something long-term done by next off-season. . .

Clady scored poorly on the Wonderlic anyways. He is dumb as rocks and overrated. He will never amount to anything.

Sarcasm is so often lost on internet forums.

Typical franchise tagged player/team horse****, means nothing at this point...more of a silent protest about not having a contract in place. I can see the problem for both sides, but fully expect Denver and Clady to come to terms, probably after the draft.

Clady is going to get paid. He's a top 3 NFL left tackle, and he and his agent know that Elway isn't going to leave Manning's blind side unprotected when the real bullets start flying.
