Q: Can you please explain what is going on with the Broncos' running-back situation? It has been all quiet on this front, which to me was a glaring weakness (and) why we lost to Baltimore in the playoffs. ... Who do you see coming in? Or are the Broncos going to keep (Knowshon) Moreno, (Ronnie) Hillman and (Willis) McGahee and keep the status quo?

A: Craig, the Broncos will not keep status quo at running back. Both Moreno and McGahee are coming back from injuries. McGahee suffered a ligament injury to go with a fracture; Moreno had a stem-cell treatment on his knee following the season. By the time training camp opens, the Broncos will have at least one more back who they believe could take carries as a potential starter in the offense.

They have taken a look in free agency, most notably with Rashard Mendenhall. Mendenhall was scheduled for a visit to the Broncos' Dove Valley complex last month until the Arizona Cardinals told Mendenhall their contract offer was only good if Mendenhall didn't leave and visit the Broncos.
