With the rules of today's NFL, I don't think getting a head-hunting safety is something you look for anymore. They just get penalized and fined.

And there are a few that will be available in the mid rounds like McDonald who have headhunting tendencies.

I would love Wierner if he falls to us in first.

Em do you think Thomas is better then Swearinger? Why do you think CB is not a need and LB is such a need as pass rushers?

Sorry, I think it sucks. I would HATE the draft to go down like that. He list LB as a need but fails to recognize the huge need for an ILB, yet has us going OLB twice when we have Woody and Miller.

Again DB, it's the fans that are going nuts for an inside linebacker!!! :throwrock:

The draft would be a success in my opinion by simply getting Werner in the first. However, I don't see Denver forgoing a cornerback, they may take a pass rush specialist somewhere, but two outside linebackers is unlikely. And Denver is in need of a true tailback besides a fullback, so I see them taking a tailback somewhere.

I happen to like Nate Irving that's why.

That's a tough question right there NT.. I think they are one in the same, but Swearinger has better ball skills, but Thomas is a little bit more assignment sound

And you don't think there is an obious reason why? Kind of like we begged for a DT for so long?? MLB is the QB on defense. Last year we had Brooking....kind of the equivelent of Kyle Orton as a QB.

That's fine if you like him. Just not so sure the Broncos like him enough to make him a starter in the middle. If they felt the same way then they wouldnt have started old man Brooking over Irving. I strongly doubt Irving is the answer at ILB.....his presence would have been felt by now on defense. Even Joe Mays beat him out...lol

According what I've read Denver likes Irving as well so unless they've been wowed by a mike linebacker pospect I don't think Denver is going to draft one.

DB pretty sure he is the starter going into TC. They have not even looked at any LB if they are going to get one it will be one that can be a DE or depth. They seem pretty high on Irving.

Again DB, it's the fans that want a mike linebacker, but if you look at the time the defense spends in nickel packages a mike linebacker may not be as prominent to them. As you say to Davii, you are an armchair GM, and you're guessing like the rest of us what they'll do. What most of us are listening to is what Elway and the Broncos have been and are saying as well as doing via meeting draft prospects. The only linebacker they've met with is Te'o and one kid who will be lucky to be drafted who is also a fullback. Unless you count Simon and he fits that edge rusher hybrid like Dumervil was for them.

We have three guys that are going to compete for mike linebacker and Irving is one of them. I've always said look at what a team does verse what it says but right now there is nothing else besides what they have said. Fox has said he likes Irving and that he's going to get chance to compete to be the mike linebacker. If they draft one then Elway and Fox aren't as high on him as they have said but since all we have to go with at the moment I'm going to take them at their word.

Always enjoy your contributions, Em. I wouldn't mind that draft at all, especially
your #1, except for Bohanan. Nothing against him, but IMO it would be a waste
of a roster space to carry a FB. That's what they have Hester for, and they
could afford to jettison even him if they had to, IMO, because they have been
known to slide Dreessen over on occasion, and even Unrein has gotten into the
FB act. Moreover, the FB is not often needed in Manning's offense.

Also, I personally would rather see a DT in one of those spots instead of two
LBs.

If you take a running back in the third (I think Lemonier is gone by then) such as Taylor or Bell then I would be very happy with that draft.

Hey Em, I'm confused after watching your draft board video's...

You have Shamarko as a 4th round value yet you would have us draft him in the 2nd?

I see you remembered we have Nate but what about Carter? I can see us overpaying for a DE this year but not a safety. With the addition of Welker and us still having Gerell Robinson on the roster I'd only bring in FA's at WR...

I love Werner but I'd be happy to see us trade down to get Tank like we did Wolfe last year...

Using your board, this is what I'd do...

1 - pick 28 Bjoern Werner - DE - 6'3 266 - Florida State
2 - pick 58 - Leon McFadden - CB - 5'10 193 - San Diego State
3 - pick 90 - Zac Stacy - RB - 5'9 216 - Vanderbilt or even Marcus Lattimore - RB
4 - pick 125 - J.J. Wilcox - S - 6'0 213 - Georgia Southern
5 - pick 161 - Josh Boyd - DT - 6'3 310 - Mississippi State
7 - pick 234 - Tourek Williams - DE/LB - 6'3 260 - Florida International

Regards...

Hey, btw... some of your graphics are kind of hard to see (for those of us that don't listen so well... lol )

Love the work you put in though... Thanks...

He has Stacy, Davis, & Bell as 3rd round values but he has most of the RB's higher (Lattimore as a 4th, although he has Mauti as a 3rd... hmmm)...

edit: that was an fyi to aulaza, apparently I've forgotten how to hit the reply with quote button...

Sometimes it seems that people take the original grades of these athletes and little tidbits to grade the players where they see them, I am pretty sure that EM follows the more well respected lists, such as CBSNDS which is rather spot on with the more respected analysts in their grading system.

I figured it was partly that his "board" consists of his original grades... I didn't pay attention to the dates of his videos. Everyone changes & has different opinions... I personally love Shamarko Thomas, he may be short but with that crazy vertical of his he makes up for it... doesn't surprise me at all that anyone would put a 2nd round grade on him.

Not surprised that Em doesn't want to get drawn into discussions, he probably doesn't have time as it is... I don't know if he uses any lists but he seems to make clear in his videos that they are his opinions alone...

As long as we dodge the injury bug, we could survive without drafting a CB, RB, or DT in the top rounds.

As a fan going forward, having Werner & Shamarko alone would have me forgetting about the other picks... although I'm sure Del Rio would have fun finding ways to use Lemonier & Gooden. He'd be like a kid in a candy store... lol

Yep SBF you hit the nail on the head.. I don't use a list but my own. I was the only guy that gave Russell Wilson a 1st Rd Grade in January...and said he'd start from Day 1 in May after the Draft. The only reason why the perception that other list are 'well respected' is because of the CBS & ESPN logo slapped on it..but at the end of the day, those guys are wrong more often than not

Oh, and those guys on CBSNDS don't have the playing and coaching experience that I have...which gives me a different perspective than those guys which is usually 'group think'

I like the front 7 thought process, but I think our DE situation requires us to be stronger in the middle, I could see it going Carradine or Moore (1) Hankins or Jenkins (2) Riddick (3) Hill (4) Trevardo Williams (5) and somebody from Arizona (7) because Elway cant have a draft without an AZ plaher. We have to be able to raise hell on o lines in the playoffs. This is the draft to do it.

No that they don't Em, that's one reason I respect your view more then Mel 'Hair Helmet' Kiper, who has zero qualifications for the position he holds or weight he carries.

I respect your opinions EM, thank you for bringing them here as I believe they add value to this site.

Please don't take to heart some of the posts in this thread.

I believe some of the posts are down right rude.

Saying they don't agree is one thing, everyone has their own opinion, but some of the posts were just over the top rude and I hope you don't let that ever discourage you from bringing your insight to the board.
