Ravens will still play on September 5, but where?

Posted by Mike Florio on March 22, 2013, 3:39 PM EDT

The statement from the Ravens regarding their inability to play at home on September 5 includes an important tidbit of news.

They will still be playing that night.

“The Ravens will open the season on the road on Thursday night, September 5, in our annual NFL Kickoff Game on NBC,” the NFL has announced. ”We are exploring potential fan activities in Baltimore around the Kickoff Game, including a pre-game concert.”

Possible destinations based on Baltimore’s schedule include Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Miami, Chicago, Detroit, and Denver.

Because of scheduling conflicts with the MLB this is possible to happen.

How sick would this game be? The nation could see us get revenge in one of the biggest games of the year. If the Ravens have a choice between us and Pitt then they should show they have balls and pick us.

Most likely they will want to play a scrub team like Cleveland or Buffalo.

In light of a report Buck Showalter’s Baltimore Orioles won’t play nice and allow the Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens to open the NFL season at home on Thursday night, September 5, there has been rampant speculation the Ravens may play a road game on that Thursday night date against the Broncos at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

Will the baseball and football gods clash, or conspire, and leave the Orioles 20 games out of first place by Sept. 5?

I've always known Baltimore as a baseball town.

No doubt we would kill them and their depleted roster.

NBC won't let them. It will almost assuredly be against Pitt or Denver.

I feel bad for Baltimore. They're getting hosed over by a sport that they have supplanted as the 'nation's pastime'.

If they end up playing us on opening night with their depleted roster then they are in for a rude awakening. NBC will prob try and fight for this matchup to happen.
