It was amazing - i will be buying some more of that.

It has a distinctly Innis and Gunn taste to it, nothing like the usual german style wheat beers - but it was pretty damn fine

Coors Summer Brew is being sold in Colorado this year. Let the bashing begin!

i would love some, but i still have some bud limes in the fridge.....

j/k i have no problem with Coors - but Bud Limes are for homos - not the good kind, the holding hands in the park, kissing with their eyes closed, cackle with laughter and drink white wine style homos - you know the sort, the type that makes god cause earthquakes and shit.

I'm usually skeptical of stuff like the kriek, but I figured I'd give it a chance because it was the lips of faith and I was pleasantly surprised.

I have yet to try a Lips of Faith beer I didn't like. The collaboration with Cigar City is the bomb.

Ten fiddy is pretty good. I can get it at the beer store for $2.50 a can.

The first night I was in Akron I tried a Great Lakes Chillwave Double IPA. It was awesome...highly recommend it. I also tried a porter, but can't remember what it was. It was ok.

The night I met Drew we went to Brew Kettle, and sampled a number of beers....all of them very good. The white IPA I tried was a little lighter than I was expecting, but nevertheless it was still very good and I would definitely try it again. I think my expectations were a little too high due to it winning a blind taste test of over 100 IPA's. I also tried an oak aged bourbon stout there that was really good...perhaps a little too good.

When I was leaving Brewforia Drew hooked me up with 5 different beers, all of which were really good. I actually enjoyed the imperial brown ale, and I usually don't like brown ales. Also, the IPA from laughing dog was awesome. I really enjoyed all 5 beers, but don't remember what they were. I should have written it down. The stout was awesome.

Drew, do you remember what the 5 were you gave me, and have you had a chance to try all 5 I left with you?

Session beers are called "session" because the intent is to kill a sixer in a "session". I couldn't imagine a DIPA as a session brew.

That's always nice. When I was in Denver last year dogfish gave me a really nice Avery bomber...we can't get that here. There's a little brewery in Blanco, TX called Real Ale Brewing Co that does a lot of rye and grain brews that I'm looking forward to having when I get down there.

Rye beers are really hit and miss, that's cool you found a place that specializes in it. I've had some I've really liked and some I've hated. I gave one to Drew from Payette Brewing that I've never tried, and unfortunately for Drew he was the guinea pig.

Seeing Red-

I know now why I had "session IPA" on my mind. I had one stored in my garage that I hadn't tried yet. It was only 4% ABV, but it had a very nice flavor. It was nice and dry, hoppy aftertaste, but not bitter and not too citrusy. It was made by Sockeye. Have any of you ever had Sockeye? They have a Pale Ale that's pretty popular here in Idaho.

Never had Sockeye. The only session IPA I've ever had was Stone's Go-To and it was a punch in the mouth flavor wise. Definitely set the bar high for session brews for me.

I will agree that they aren't as good at IPA's as they are other beers, especially their dark beers and winter beers. Have you tried the Hop Henge? I thought you liked the Chain Breaker? Nevertheless, I sort of agree with your point. They definitely aren't my first choice for "always available" IPA's. I can take or leave their Inversion IPA.

When I said "IPA" I'm not talking about stuff like Chainbreaker or Accumulation and the likes.

Most of their mass produced stuff is just ok but their small batch stuff is the shit...Not The Stoic, Black Butte XXVI, Mirror Mirror, etc are all bitchin...but the rest of their stuff is meh.

I'm going to chime in... I like the porter and the stout. As for their IPA's, they aren't the best but I like the freshly squeezed. I love Chainbreaker but I haven't been able to find it the last couple of months, did they stop making it? I actually resorted to buying the Blue Moon White IPA, it's very bleh...

I think the chain breaker is a seasonal. I like the fresh squeeze as well.

Edit:

Their website states it's an annual brew. It must be the distributor up there not carrying it.

The fresh squeezed is way too fruity for my liking. I like my IPAs dry and hoppy. A little citrus is fine but Deachutes seems to always overload their IPAs with the wrong stuff. Inversion isn't especially fruity but it's excessively nutty tasting. Every one of their IPAs I've tried miss.

What do you pay for Sierra outside CA?

I noticed a place in Austin charging $11.99 for a bomber of Torpedo. WTF!? That's one of the better bargains in CA, it's literally $3.60 a bomber at Albertsons/Von's.

Are you guys getting ripped off?

I kind of couldn't believe being from San Diego, that seemingly every beer from here was huge and on tap in Austin. Ballast Point, Stone, Green Flash - all available even in small tap lineups. Was like I didn't even leave home at the bar.

So I contacted Deschutes and asked why no more Chainbreaker in Great Falls area and the guy told me Albertsons were the last place that was stocking it and they stopped about 2 months ago because nobody was buying it. I noticed it here in a Safeway liquor store last night, it was $19.99 for a sixer. LMFAO!

The only dog fish over here is that 60 I was taking about.

I have not drank red wine in years.

Until about twelve months ago I was about 5 years sober.

Now I allow myself a few beers here and there, no wine or spirits though.

Yes, crazy SOBs. Their peat smoked porter tastes like you stuck inside a peat fire and inhaled all the smoke.

It was unique to the end. They are famous for their tactical nuclear penguin brew and sink the Bismarck. I love that they take chances but sometimes it to much even for beer snob.

So Green Flash now owns Alpine Brewing - believe I referred to them. Green Flash has a number of stellar IPAs - West Coast, Palate Wrecker, 30th Street, and more - but Alpine is even better. With national distribution I expect to see Alpine Nelson or Duet around and both have been prized here for years.

Well it is different. Hope you'll like it. I've had a lot lately though and it's working for me. I do think it's I bit smoother than the original version but it's all from memory.

The price is great as well locally. $5.99 a 22 -- that's a great deal for a beer like this. If they keep that value nationally it's going to be huge.

Ruination is awesome so 2.0 has something to live up to. I don't think Stone would change a recipe like that one to make it worse.

Yep, I do like it quite a bit. It's probably their flagship beer. It's a big reason why I fell in love with dark beers. I like it when I want something dark, but not overly heavy with a high abv.

I like their obsidian stout a little more however.
