He's going to renegotiate. Eat it, suckers.

Source: Elvis Dumervil is now willing to take a pay cut. His side has exchanged a proposal with the Broncos, hasn't heard back since 4

We're going to have our cake and eat it too.

Guess he isn't quite as valuable on the open market as many Bronco fans thought.

No surprise here. As expected he wasn't going to get the same contract he has now on the open market. Looks like he realizes a pay cut is his only option.

This would be great for Denver. Keep doom and pay him less.

Shaddap slim.

I like the guy, don't get me wrong. But his contract was way too rich for a guy that disappears in big games and seems to only show up against inferior opposition.

They plan on replacing him with a similar but older and more injury prone version...you do know that, correct?

Alfred just said that Kruger just set the market for a DE, and it is 8 mil.

Well, I would hope the plan was to upgrade the position, but the bottom line is he was getting paid too much. This thread would suggest that the open market and Doom have both reached a similar conclusion.

a good 4 million less then his original contract, but he may be expected to take less...if Freeney or Seymour are willing to play for 6 million or so, then Doom will have to take a huge pay cut.

Best I can do is a link to a twitter post saying he's open to a restructure. I'm just clinging onto some good news compared to all the crap that's been coming out for over a week now.

Elvis was just about the leave the building when the Broncos called him back.

Let's have another talk.

The Broncos and Elvis Dumervil's agent Marty Magid exchanged another round of contract proposals Tuesday. That's the good news for Broncos fans hoping the defensive end with 20 ½ sacks the past two years returns for the 2013 season.

The problem is a chasm in philosophy in how to re-do the $12 million salary Dumervil is scheduled to make this season. The Broncos want Dumervil to accept a pay cut. No sugar. Just cut.
