Didn't see the game. Who was hurt?

Simms a "lower extremity", an ankle or something and Marcus Thomas "upper extremity". Those are the only two I remember right now.

Alphonso Smith, Chris Simms, Ayers and LaKevin, may have been more.

I forgot about a couple of those. Smith got hurt following a kickoff or punt return I believe. When did Ayers go down?

I read on the last play of the game on this forum I believe. Add Tony Carter to the wounded. I had a friend call and remind me of that injury too.

I think it said in the Denver Post....there was a qoute from Simms that said, "Test revealed a sprained ankle...I'll be fine.".

For Thomas, it's his shoulder, but no new news yet.

Smith had an ice pack on his knee.

Carter was limping.

Injury bug seems to be back this year!:tsk: Maybe I'm forgetful, but I don't recall the numerous injuries the BRONCOS have had over the last few years. Hopefully it goes away come the regular season.

I was hoping to see more playing time from the draftees

Royal had treatment for a left calf injury but said he felt fine after the game. Rookie cornerback Tony Carter also used crutches to get to the Broncos' bus Saturday because of a left ankle injury. Defensive lineman Marcus Thomas suffered a right shoulder injury and was to have his rotator cuff examined. . . . Matt Prater's 53-yard field goal during the first quarter Saturday was the second-longest field goal in a preseason game in Broncos history. Ola Kimrin kicked a 65-yard field goal against Seattle on Aug. 29, 2002

Injury report.
Rookie cornerback and returner Alphonso Smith had a big ice pack wrapped around his right knee. Defensive tackle Marcus Thomas went down with a right shoulder injury.
Backup quarterback Chris Simms limped off the field at the end of the third quarter and left the locker room after the game hobbling on crutches. He said tests revealed a sprained left ankle. "Somebody fell on it, but I'll be fine."
Also, cornerback Tony Carter was limping on his left leg.
Prater OK.
Matt Prater, who missed Thursday's practice with an unspecified injury, made a 53-yard field goal during the first half.

Broncos backup QB Chris Simms suffered a "severely sprained ankle" in Saturday's game.

Severe sprain is not good, could mean a tear which could mean Simms could miss a significant amount of time or even be put on IR and lost for the season.

Why does fate see it that we must lose 2 of our 3 probowlers in one season. Its like everything keeps happeneing to ensure this.

Depends on which Quinn you are talking about. Quinn of the Browns seems to have gained the lead in their QB competition last I read. Even if you referencing Brady Quinn, that's bad thing? Why would it piss you off?

Broncos Injury Details 8/26/09: QB Simms, DT Thomas, CB Carter

QB CHRIS SIMMS:

Broncos backup quarterback Chris Simms is nursing an ankle injury after Seahawks Defensive End Nick Reed tackled Simms late and low, in the top of the 4th quarter of the team’s second preseason game.

I first spoke to Simms on Tuesday who told me that, he was disappointed about his unfortunate situation and admitted his ankle was tender. However, his tone was optimistic as far as his prognosis adding that, “if they hold me out of the last preseason game it would only be precautionary.

After reports surface this morning that Simms would be out 2-4 weeks because of his injury, Simms told me later today “It will only be 2 weeks max.”

Now Broncos fans, that’s Simms’ personal evaluation of himself as things stand now. No doubt about the Broncos need Simms to heal fast especially given their situation at quarterback.

DT MARCUS THOMAS

One day after the Broncos game against the Seahawks last Saturday, I learned that Broncos defensive tackle Marcus Thomas dislocated his shoulder after engaging with tackle Na’Shan Goddard.

Camp sources say Thomas was scheduled for an MRI Tuesday.

Today I was told that the MRI showed no structural damage to the ligaments by a source familiar with Thomas’ situation; however, I was also told that his injury status should have precluded him form participating in practice today as well according to that same source.

Today Thomas participated in practice for one drill, only to leave holding his arm in discomfort thereafter. Thomas was wearing a brace on his shoulder at the time. Thomas is needed to shore up the Broncos' line.

CB TONY CARTER:

Rookie cornerback Tony Carter suffered an ankle sprain in the game against the Seahawks. Carter is experiencing a bit of pain, but told me its getting better.

Carter is one of the fastest guys on the Broncos team, his speed should be looked at as an asset on this squad.

Marshall not practicing
by Mike Klis on August 27, 2009

Wednesday, receiver Brandon Marshall held the blocking dummy while his position teammates bounced off him on their way to running routes in two different position drills.

Today, Marshall isn’t practicing at all. It’s possible Marshall needs more time to heal his hamstring/hip. It’s also possible he remains in coach Josh McDaniels’ doghouse.

Doesn’t appear Marshall will make his 2009 debut this Sunday against the Chicago Bears.

Also sitting out the practice Thursday were running backs Knowshon Moreno (knee) and LaMont Jordan (leg), quarterback Chris Simms (ankle), cornerback Tony Carter (leg), defensive tackle Marcus Thomas (shoulder) and defensive end Le Kevin Smith (undisclosed).

Denver Native (Carol)

If Brandon is healthy, he needs to be put in the remaining preseason games. Hopefully it is still because he is not 100% healthy, because if not, it is time to end the drama.

No go for Knowshon in Week One?
Posted by Mike Florio on August 27, 2009 6:53 PM ET

When the Broncos face the Bengals to start the season, they might be without the services of the twelfth overall pick in the 2009 draft.

According to Jeff Legwold of the Denver Post, tailback Knowshon Moreno is not expected to be back to 100 percent by the time Week One rolls around.

Even if Moreno's sprained MCL has healed by September 13, Moreno's conditioning likely will keep him on the shelf.

With LaMont Jordan also missing time due to injury, the current starter is veteran Correll Buckhalter, who arrived via free agency after eight years in Philly.

Peyton Hillis also could shift over from fullback, and Darius Walker could get reps, too.

Oh well. At least they still have Kyle Orton at quarterback.

Orton's finger injury puts QB spot on the spot
The Denver Post
Posted: 08/31/2009 01:00:00 AM MDT

Hurry up and heal, Chris Simms.

As the Broncos' quarterback situation stood Sunday night, there was a chance Simms was in position to heal from his left ankle sprain before Kyle Orton was able to recover from his right index finger injury.

Orton had a delayed reaction to his injury, which occurred following an incomplete pass on a third-and-2 play with 5:37 remaining in the first half. NBC cameras showed his right finger bleeding. It then appears his finger was yanked into place. Teammates could hear Orton scream in pain before he was escorted to the locker room.

Afterwards, his right finger was heavily bandaged but he would not reveal specifics of his injury, per instructions of Broncos coach Josh McDaniels.

Will Orton be ready by the season opener Sept. 13 in Cincinnati?

"I'm going to work as hard as I can," Orton said. "I don't know how long I'm going to be out, but mentally I'll be ready to go."

Simms suffered an ankle sprain last week against Seattle, but he is expected to be healed enough to play in a week.

A source close to the situation said Kuper suffered a high ankle sprain. Kuper is going to try to play in Denver’s regular-season opener Sept. 13 at Cincinnati. However, that may be an optimistic view. A high-ankle sprain could take four weeks to heal. If Kuper can’t play, fourth-round pick Seth Olsen would likely play for him.

Maybe they amputated Gaffney's thumb and attached it to Ortons index finger so he can throw farther than 5 yards.

Is Josh McDaniels day to day with a bruised ego, or are we gonna have a cute euphemism for that too?

"Contusion to the Jungian sensibilities of unknown severity."

Still just pre-season. Can't wait to see Cincy and find out if Orton can throw at all - and if he can, whether there's some mysterious force-field preventing catches of longer than 15 yards that can be shown on instant replay. :D

An update from Denver Post:

NFL sources said that while Kyle Orton’s injured finger was not fractured, the Broncos quarterback suffered an open dislocation (meaning it penetrated the skin) of the right knuckle.
That would explain the blood dripping from Orton’s finger and the excruciating pain the quarterback endured as the dislocation was popped back into place by trainer Steve “Greek’’ Antonopulos.

Ouch. I have broken my two wrists, twice each, but never had a dislocation.

Yea, whenever I think of the skin being sliced from the inside out, it gives me the creeps.

Denver Post Reports:

And for the first time in a couple of weeks, the Broncos believe they will have two veteran quarterbacks ready to practice this week.

Chris Simms will go first. He got injured first, so he's had more time to heal from his sprained left ankle. He will be taking snaps today during the Broncos' light practice at Dove Valley.

Kyle Orton and his stitched-up finger will be held back until Tuesday, when the Broncos have their first lengthy practice of the week.

If the stitches on his finger and laces on the football can meld into consistent spirals, Orton will start the season opener next Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Simms would become the backup and Tom Brandstater, the rookie who just finished off a gratifying preseason, will become the No. 3 quarterback.

Lack of reps with the first-team offense is the issue for Simms. Stitches are the issue for Orton. The index finger on his right throwing hand

We had one of those town hall mob uprisings and voted down the traditional adopt-a-bronco, in favor of letting people adopt anyone they want, even if 50 other people have adopted the player.

So, all you have to do is going into User CP, "edit your details" and put in whoever you want.
