For the record, count Chris Kuper among the Broncos players invited to the Pro Bowl.

The right guard opted out, though, because of impending surgery to repair what turned out to be another break in his lower left fibula.

The break is in the same area where Kuper suffered a severe left ankle dislocation during the final game of the 2011 regular season.

The initial injury, which occurred Jan. 1, 2012, in a 7-3 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, was more serious. The dislocation caused multiple breaks in the fibula and several ligament tears. During surgery a plate was inserted with several screws to help repair the damage.

Hopefully he can get it fixed for good this time and be back full strength in the summer.

I saw some scattered criticism of Kuper's play in the Baltimore game.

Now we all know why.

Who decides who the Pro Bowl alternates are?

Not sure if it is according to the votes they received from the fans?????

As good as Kuper usually is, he missed so much time this year there is no way he was deserving of a pro bowl selection.

No doubt there are other guys who started every game who deserve to be mentioned before a guy who started 6 games.

Man, Kupers leg sounds like a freakin train wreck...steel plates and shattered bones..Good lord, if he was a regular working dude, he might be applying for disability and social security. Hope he recovers and makes a huge comeback to All Pro next year...

Clay Matthews? Ray Lewis? Revis? There are tons of dudes that got shit tons of votes that missed significant time.

I guess it is no different than any other sport. I think Yao Ming missed the entire NBA season a few years ago and was still selected to the all altar game.

Why was he even an alternate? He missed so many games this year.
