Explain to me how an NBA front office drafts a guy in the first round who is afraid to fly on an airplane? Why did they not know White had this phobia before draft day? With all the thorough scouting these organizations supposedly do and the millions they spend to sign them, how could a front office not know the dude wouldn't board a plane?
Didn't a scout ask Dez Bryant a few years ago if his momma was a whore? I mean, seriously asked that not rhetorically. Yet an NBA team doesn't know a kid is too whacked to board a plane?
GM Daryl Morey was supposed to be one of those new age SABR guys who was supposed to apply Moneyball methods to basketball. He was hailed by the internet wags as a genius. But what have the Rockets actually accomplished? They got past the first round just once. And now he doesn't even know the player he drafted won't board a plane?
