What would a loss to the Chargers mean?

1) We fall 2 games behind the Chargers for the division with 10 games to go.

2) The Chargers would not only be half way to sweeping us, but the entire division as well. This would give them the inside track for the tie breaker; making us as good as 3 games behind them with 10 to go.

3) We’d be 0-3 against teams that will probably be making the play-offs. I would have said 0-4 before the Patriots losing to the Seahawks today. It’s not that I think that the Seahawks are that bad, nor would I say that I think that the Patriots are not going to make the play-offs, it’s that they just don’t seem like a sure shot at anything this year.

4) We would be 1 game behind 4 teams (Jets, Bill, Dolphins & Bengals), ½ game behind the Steelers & Colts, for the 2 wildcard spots. At least we do have the tie Break against the Steelers. :D

Defense has only been bad on 3rd down. We were a top 10 ranked defense before the Pats game. I would not call it piss poor but in need of improvement. We shall see if Thomas has those fumbles in the first half that prevent points from being on the board like the last 2 games.

In week 3 they were bad against an elite Houston offense. In week 4 they completely shut down Oakland. In week 5 they were bad against a very good Pats O that we are just a bad matchup against.

So in 5 games our D has had two very good ones, two bad ones, and one mediocre one. They certainly could be performing better, but would not say they have been "piss poor" this season, especially given the opposition.

Our defenses under Larry Coyer and Jim Bates were piss poor. This is nowhere near as bad as those. Perspective, people.

you cant let the opposing team be perfect on 3rd down conversions like the Pats were for most of the game. We got them into several 3rd and longs and they still converted.
