View Full Version : Broncos welcome returner; injuries to Clady, Carter are a concern

It was difficult spotting the new guy.

Trindon Holliday was the smallest player on the Broncos' practice fields Friday. Perhaps, the difficulty in seeing the 5-foot-5, 165-pound Holliday behind mammoth-sized blockers, coupled with his 10 seconds-flat speed in the 100 meters, will give the Broncos a threat in their return game.

Holliday is expected to return punts and possibly kickoffs when the Broncos play the San Diego Chargers in a potentially pivotal AFC West game Monday night at Qualcomm Stadium.

According to Andrew Mason's Mile High Sports post on Holliday being claimed off waivers was that the only team with a worse kickoff return average was Houston - the team from which Holliday was waived...

Houston had a better average then us. 2.4 yards per carry better on punts.

Selective and cherry-picking. They were middle of the pack for punt returns. Houston also has soundly beaten their opponents so in turn aren't getting many chances to return kickoffs.

The guy might be the fastest man in the NFL. It's worth it to take a chance on him. We are talking elite Olympic level speed.

Here's video of him beating CJ Spiller who is one of the fastest also.

I love Eddie, but I think it needs to be pointed out that he's statistically the worst punt returner in the league this year.

Ravage!!!

Royal is a solid WR that is VERY well liked in SD, and would add very valuable depth to this roster at WR. Stokely has a tendency to get injured before the year is up, and I expect that to happen again. So yeah, I sure wish we had Royal still on the team.

we can thank TEBOW for royals pre-mature exit strategy.
Royal probably kicked himself and his agent when the broncos signed manning.

This kids going to be fun to watch. Hes so small he could hide on the field and defenders wont be able to find him. Maybe he can spell Mcgahee. lol Cant be worse than Ball..

Yes, but Houston has truly dreadful special teams, the one true weak link on an otherwise solid team. Baltimore knocked them out of last years playoffs almost solely because Jacoby Jones muffed a punt the Ravens recovered at their 2 (so now he IS a Raven, and ran a kick back for the game winner against Dallas today; I'd just as soon he never comes back to TX. ;)) Monday really illustrated it: After a Texans FG put them up by 13 ESPN went to commericals, the last of which was a highlight spot showing theh Dolphins running a punt back against Houston Week 1; then they returned to the game for the Texans kickoff—which was run back for a TD. Houston's kick coverage AND returning is pathetic; we can't blame that on Holliday.

Hopefully I won't see Leonhard waving at our other kick returners to take a knee when they catch balls on the end line now. I don't get why all these kick returners think they can and should run out EVERY kick.
