Today's question about the Broncos comes from Bill S. in Denver. To submit a question for consideration, send an e-mail to The Denver Post's Jeff Legwold.

Q: I know you've talked about it already in (training) camp, but with cuts just a few days away, how do you see things shaping up with the defensive backs? It seems like (the Broncos) are going to have to get rid of a player or two they'd really want to keep.

A: Bill, as the Broncos try to regain their playoff pedigree, this is what they hope their roster decisions look like at every position. But defensive back may be the most crowded spot on the depth chart right now, and personnel people around the league have their eyes on a couple players the Broncos may have to set free Friday.

I'm not sure there are any decisions to make at CB especially. Five CBS - Champ,
Porter, Harris, Florence, and Bolden - would seem locks to make it, and with
safety in mind, I'm not sure the Broncos will keep more than five.

Even safety seems to have its numbers with Carter, Moore, and Adams, and
I'm pretty sure they're going to keep Leonhard. The one who concerns me is
Bruton, who is an ST ace, but all the safeties play STs (but does Adams?).
Because of him, the Broncos may go with 10 after all.

It's going to be interesting, for sure. No matter how they cut it (pun not
intended), some good football players will be gone . . .

I agree with most on your list. I think they will keep 11, unless someone else shows something on returns. Bolden's return last night solidified his spot I believe. I also think Syd Quan has an outside chance to make it 11.

Im pulling for Leohnard to make the team. Bolden secured his job with a 103 yd return

So am I. But I don't think there's any worries there. Leonhard is the only true
punt returner since the Broncos unloaded Fast Eddie, and he is the kind of
leader the Broncos need in the secondary since Dawkins left. It seems to me
the Broncos have every reason to retain Leonhard.

That's pretty much what I predicted TOP. Aside from Florence being cut there weren't too many surprises.

CB: Bailey, Porter, Harris, Tony Carter instead of Florence, Bolden
S: Mike Adams, Rahim Moore, Quinton Carter, Jim Leonhard, and special teams ace David Bruton.

Not a single surprise among the safeties, except for fools who kept insisting that marginal scrub Syd-Quan Thompson was something to hold onto. The proof? They didn't even want him on the practice squad! Nobody else in the NFL wanted him either, and he cleared waivers without a ripple.

I had a soft spot in my heart for Syd'Quan. But it seemed every time I noticed
his number in a game this year, he was trying to chase down a receiver that
had just burned him. I got the idea at that time that his days were numbered.

I was personally glad also to see Florence gone. Nice guy. Gave a great
interview. Just wasn't playing good football.

I think we're going to see one heck of a secondary this year . . .
