i just wanted to take a minute and thank mr. davis.
its nice to know that even in a major rebuilding year we can count on al and the raiders to make us look good,as we will again have no trouble doubling their win total.
sure no "real" team wants to use the raiturds as a yard stick by which to measure themselves. and the broncos won't,but its just nice knowing that we would have to be the worst team in the league to take the raiders spot as the bottom feeders of the afc west !
thanks again al and keep up the good work !:elefant:

Which you just did, which means you're not a real team?

Why don't you thank the other 30 owners in the NFL... oh wait, you can't.

My sig bet thread is coming up in a few weeks. You're invited.

i thank AL davis for drafting Heyward bey. he could have drafted a worthwhile reciver or player for his team, but he chose to help denver out instead....

if i was a raiders fan it wouldnt just be heyward beys hands i would worry about.....his biggest issues are his lacksidasical route running and poor ability to seperate at the line....

while catching the ball is paramount, it wont matter if you cant get open run a good route or get off the line....

so i say thanks Al davis for helping denver out just a little bit more.......

Raiders Fan,

First-round pick Heyward-Bey struggling to get a grip at Raiders camp!!!!!!

NAPA, Calif. -- Oakland coach Tom Cable insists he is not concerned about wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, even as the Raiders' first-round draft pick struggles through the first few days of training camp.

Heyward-Bey dropped four passes on Monday in Oakland's first full-contact practice, one day after dropping a trio of throws as owner Al Davis looked on.

"He understands his job is to catch footballs and for him it is just a process of gaining confidence and getting comfortable every day at this level," Cable said. "And he is doing that by leaps and bounds. I am really not worried about it. He is just pressing. He just wants to impress you. That is what it is."

The seventh overall pick in the NFL draft, Heyward-Bey has been the most closely watched player in Oakland's camp this year. He missed the team's first practice while his agent hammered out the details on a five-year deal that will guarantee Heyward-Bey at least $23.5 million, then joined the team for a light workout later that same afternoon.

On Monday, Oakland donned full pads but the results weren't what the offense had been hoping for. Quarterback JaMarcus Russell missed open receivers on a few throws, backup Jeff Garcia sat out with a strained calf muscle and Heyward-Bey had more drops than he did catches.

After practice, Cable pulled his young receiver to the side for a quick pep talk. At the end of the brief discussion, Cable patted Heyward-Bey on the back as the former Maryland star headed for the locker room to get treatment on the hamstring that sidelined him during the offseason.

"I wouldn't say I'm pressing, I'm just trying to work through the kinks," Heyward-Bey said. "That's football. It happens. They tell me all the time, 'Forget about that."'

Russell knows a thing or two about scrutiny and trying to do too much as a rookie. Drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in 2006, he missed all of training camp in a contract holdout and played sparingly his first season while the criticism increased each week.

Oakland's third-year quarterback said it's important for Heyward-Bey to not listen to what is being said or written about him.

"He's very anxious to succeed," Russell said. "I don't know anyone who's not going to be anxious to succeed, but I told him make it easy for yourself. Sometimes you jump for passes you don't have to. The ball's going to be in places where you expect it to be so just run through your routes and do what got you here. Those guys know you can catch so go out there and show them."

Heyward-Bey did make two nice grabs, hauling in a 20-yard completion from Russell on a crossing route. After catching the ball, Heyward-Bey quickly accelerated and split through a trio of defenders on his way to the end zone.

"I'm still thinking, because it's still fairly new, but I'm out there trying to run full speed, trying to show the coaches what I can do," Heyward-Bey said. "They want us to go out there, and run as fast as we can, come off the ball hard, and that's what I'm doing."

Still, Russell knows the questions about Heyward-Bey won't stop until the receiver starts making plays. He also hopes the rookie avoids the temptation to try to do too much too soon because of the growing criticism.

"At times there are because everybody is asking the question, 'What is he going to do?"' Russell said. "Hey, you've got to go out there and relax yourself and be poised. just go out there and make plays. He's there to make 'em. Now he's just gotta go out there and do it."

Notes: Cable gave no timetable for how long Garcia would be out. ... WR Javon Walker continues to work out on his own while recovering from offseason knee surgery. ... Two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Derrick Burgess' holdout extended into its sixth day.

I've forgotten more about football than you know about...pretty much anything. Mike Brown is terrible. He is one of the worst owners in American sports history. That being said, that crappy franchise and crappy owner is still doing better than your crappy franchise and your crappy owner.

Yeah, your franchise has three Super Bowl rings. When did they win the last won? Since 1983 your franchise has won zero Super Bowls, just like Cincinnati. Everyone knows that the main objective overall is to win Superbowls. Congratulations, your franchise has won more awesome divisional titles then we have. Maybe if you add all of those up you would get a SB ring.

That's the point, you're an idiot. You honestly believe that your team is this stacked and loaded team. Your team looks like MY team did in the 1990's. A bunch of talented draft picks. Yay, congratulations, you have a talented QB, a talented RB, some talented WRs, and a couple studs on defense. So did Cincinnati all throughout the 90's. Yay, Al Davis was once an amazing owner. That's what everyone was telling you, he was ONCE an amazing owner. Now he's drafting the worst "first round" WR in the top ten. He's signing players like Javon Walker (post knee implosion) and DeAngelo Hall. Basically he's mirroring Mike Brown. I would know, I've watched Mike Brown destroy the Bengals franchise for years.

Here's the really funny part: if your current QB doesn't pan out your franchise is set back another five seasons. You absolutely need JaMarcus Russell to be a beast. I mean you've told us so far that JaMarcus is more talented than Elway (very few QBs are), that Asamougha is the GOAT CB ever, and that your team is loaded with talent.

The first one is so wrong that it's sad, the second one is so stupid that you should be an euthanasia recipient, and the third one is meaningless.

Al Davis is the next Mike Brown. At least Cincinnati had one of the best drafts this year.

Oh, you should go apologize to Devilspawn. You make him look bad.

No, they aren't. Palmer>Russell. Ocho Cinco>any WR you have. Coles> any WR you have. Hell, I would have have superthug Chris Henry from an on the field standpoint over any WR you have. Our RT is more talented than yours, our LT is a proven player, our LG is pretty good, we need to shore up the RG and C position. Reggie Kelly is a great blocking TE and Utecht is a good receiving threat as a TE. Coffman was a good draft pick. On defense you may have a slight edge, but it really doesn't matter. You're going to learn that CBs rarely win games for themselves, and Burgess is a nice little pass rusher. Other than that, who do you have that is even worth mentioning on defense? Cincinnati has two good CB, a very good DT in Peko, a DT in Sims that looks like he can become a dominant player, Keith Rivers played well last year until his season was ended by a broken jaw. No one is envious of your team or it's talent. You have two players on your team that are worth talking about, your CB and maybe McFadden. Cincinnati has one of the best QBs in the NFL, a HOF bound WR, and a plethora of players who actually produce. Hell, we actually play in the harder division with Pittsburgh and Baltimore.

Okay but at least I can say my team has won a ring. When I grow up, I can tell my kids the raiders were once champions. The Bengals? LMAO.

At least the Raiders try? You sound like a sad soccer mom defending her son who falls down on and the field and cries. I don't know if you really noticed this, but very rarely will "spending major dough," or "making a block buster trade" work. Your owner spent a ton of money on a crappy WR. That worked out awesome. Then he spent a ton of money on a contract for DeAngelo Fall...er DeAngelo Failure...errr...that crappy CB who can't cover anyone.

What you are failing to grasp (amongst many other thing that you're failing at) is that Al Davis' actions deserve to be compared to Mike Brown. He's running his team the exact same way. He was once great and is now one of the worst owners in all of professional sports. It's not my fault that the old man is clueless.

You wanna know what's funny? Your team hasn't done squat since it's been conceived. That's funny to me. You guys are the sadder version of the Chargers. Yes, my team sucks. Exactly what is your point? I know that my franchise's greatest accomplishments are winning two AFCCGs. Zero SB wins. At one point in time Paul Brown had his franchise running smoothly and we were pretty successful. Unfortunately for us, his son Mike Brown, took over the team before Paul passed away and ran it into the ground.
I suppose my saving grace is that I'm still a die hard fan and I actually comprehend what's going on the football field. I guess you just sorta like the colors silver and black.

My team is on Hard Knocks, and I guarantee you that a lot of perception will change on the Bengals because of that.

Says who? Mel Kiper, Todd McShay?
Actually yes, but it was a consensus pick that Cincinnati had a very strong draft.

Yes, no one knows how the picks will turn out. That being said, Cincinnati grapped the best tackle prospect, a first round LB in the second round, a first round talent in the third round, a solid TE, a solid center/guard prospect, and a good kicker. So going off of value Cincinnati had one of the best drafts.

Oh, and Rey is a football player who would produce in any system. He isn't great in coverage but he wasn't terrible and he gets praised for his instincts all the time.:lol::lol:

I am a big fan of baiting...especially when it is enforced only on one person.

P.S. When I'm banned for baiting...time to start banning others for it...otherwise, it just becomes "being pissed off at MB for telling the truth" time.

I'm baiting you? Um, no. Take a look at this thread, bro. If anything, you baited me to replying to you.

But whatevers clever :D

Al Davis' team has lost more games this decade than any other owner's....

And yet we have more playoff wins, and division titles than your team this decade?

Yeah...Stop talking.

Yeah...Stop talking.

That was at the beginning of the decade. Those awesome and meaningful wins aren't going to change the direction that your team is heading towards.

Your problem is...that Raider team that went to the playoffs (only to be totally pwned in the SB by your former coach) was old and once they (Gannon, Brown, Rice, Woodson and several O-linemen) retired, your team owner started on a decade-long rebuilding cycle resulting in fewer wins than any other team in the league. Even Detroit has won more games than Oakland has.
