Sorry to throw cold water on the pre-training camp Peyton Manning hype-fest. But here we are, two weeks away from the first practices of the Broncos' training camp and the team faces a serious problem at linebacker.

On the same day Manning picked the Broncos, it was revealed that D.J. Williams — one of the team's longest-tenured players who has started 119 games for the Broncos — would be suspended for six games for violating the league's policy on banned substances. Williams, who already lost his appeal of the suspension to the NFL, fought back — hard — but had his lawsuit against the league thrown out of a Denver court. He is appealing that ruling.

Now, court documents uncovered by Denver Post reporter John Ingold reveal Williams failed a second test, one month after he produced the first questionable urine sample.

I think DJ is replaceable. He's been solid and super flexible over the years bouncing all over, but he's not elite and he's not irreplaceable. Training camp will be interesting but I don't think losing DJ will really effect things a hell of a lot

per the article:
"In 2011, Mays was strictly a two-down player, leaving the field whenever the Broncos switched to their nickel (five defensive backs) alignment, and Woodyard joined Williams as the teams' two linebackers on the field.
See how the dominoes fall?"

Now I know I'm not the only one that thinks Von will stay on the field in the Nickle anyway.

we should move CHAMP to linebacker !
I would be stoopified if the braintrust at dove valley was not already working under the assumption that DJ would not be part of the equasion !
it would seem that a 4-3 makes morer sense for our D given the lack of LB talent, and its not like we can drop in a spare safety either !
we should have kept TEBOW to play linebacker !
can we get JDR a uniform?

Remember Von was a rookie in a lock out year and didn't get preseason training. I'm sure with his talent and training he will be able to become a 3 down player this year

again he was a three down player, but why in the world would you have arguably your best pass rusher drop into coverage in nickel situations. I want him getting after opposing qbs. I think we'll see others back at lber in those situations.

attack the pass at the point of origin"

At least our linebacker troubles give us a distraction from our DBs. :D

Our DB's are now a strength of this team.

Steven Johnson from Kansas has been playing second team Mike in all OTAs. Heard he got the highest salary of all UFAs. Who is he? Is he better than Nate Irving?
