You post a song in this thread, I will listen to it in its entirety, and give you my
honest to goodness opinion about it. For every song you post, I will post one
and do the same. You go first.

Jay Z - U Don't Know

Doing a Youtube search I found this.

<youtube>yydl8OzP_WM</youtube>

I love that he has a live band playing behind him. Could have done without Memphis Bleak helping him with the song. This could have been a good diss track, but its just a track that I could see people getting pumped to. Decent, but I'm not feeling it.

But as far as Jay-Z goes, this (Jay Z - DOA feat. Biggie Smalls) is probably my favorite recent thing by him. I'm sure you have probably heard it. My interpretation is a total diss on Kanye. What do you think?

Horns are too high pitched in my opinion and the same guitar loop got really annoying. Especially for 7 minutes. Didn't really think the lyrics were that creative.

Heiruspecs - Get Down

Favorite line: Hotter than the flame wars on your message boards. (Word!)

Link to lyrics too (http://www.kovideo.net/lyrics/h/Heiruspecs/Get-Down.html), just because the knowledge dropped here is so ******* sick I shit myself each time I hear the beat drop.

Real live hip-hop, BTW. All true instruments. Sickness. (I'll listen to that song too.)

Very good track. I only have time right now to listen to the first 1:30, but not to worry, that one is mos def going into the playlist. I can see that I will get tired of the what I can best describe as a calliope sample after about my 9th or 10th listen, but the break beat sample is so dope I want to put it up my nose.

I will post something tomorrow when I have had time to listen to your full track.

For your listening pleasure, Louis Logic & J.J. Brown - Classy McNasty

LL learned to play the piano just so he could perform his songs live. He also does a really good cover of "Just a Friend"

That Louis Logic song was absolutely phenomenal and Jedi Mind Tricks is well, Jedi Mind Tricks. JMT can be a little too abrasive for me at times through lyrics, delivery and the beats; but that's still good stuff.

Sneakers, please participate and take this thread seriously or leave. I don't care if you post some classical, Jazz with a good oboe solo, or even some polka. I start threads like these to discover new music that I wouldn't normally on my own. If all you can do is ridicule this, then go find something better to do.

Finally getting a chance to listen to your songs Shaw. Will comment on them in a couple, but first this:

Ok. I've heard Brooklyn Girls before. Dope track. Not one that I could listen to over and over again since dudes voice most definitely would start to grate on me.

Asher Roth is good. I don't know if he has the ability to hold his own on a whole album, but I'll keep my ears open.

The solo track by B.O.B. I couldn't get past the first minute.

On the colab track - glad to hear Hamilton with a different style, and I definitely like B.O.B. better on that track as well. Didn't like the production however. Not a fan at all of Casio beats. If this is where popular hip-hop is headed, there is hope indeed.

Now this is what I have for you:

Junk Science - Jerry McGuire (http://blip.fm/~96zai)

i agree about hamilton.. his voice can get harsh. especially when he has it so loud, relative to his beats, in a lot of his songs.

asher is good, and he just came out with his first album... overall the album is kind of weak, but he does some good stuff, so i think he will keep getting better.

i like that track by BoB, but it's kind of alternative i guess. he is kind of like andre 3000 in that he likes to do other stuff besides just rapping, and his favorite type of music is rock. this track is good too, his take with a bunch of different beats from other artists:

6ws5sOMTct8

i like that jerry mcguire song, but it's weird because i start my new job today haha.

The production is alright. The lyrics are good too, but the southern drawl drags on me after a bit. Don't quite know what it is.
