(CBS4) ENGLEWOOD, Colo. Broncos' Mike Shanahan was named NFL coach of the week Friday for games played last weekend.
Shanahan helped lead Denver to a 3-3 record with a 31-28 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday night.
Shanahan's offense put up points in every quarter including a 49-yard field goal as time expired to give the Broncos the win.
Quarterback Jay Cutler passed for 248 yards that included three touchdowns to lead an offense that converted 70 percent of its third downs throughout the game.
Denver is last in the NFL in stopping the run and the Steelers have the league's second-best rushing offense. But the Broncos' defense was so effective that Pittsburgh running back Willie Parker (93 yards on 21 carries) had only three rushes for 10 yards in the first quarter.
The other finalists this past week were head coaches **** Jauron of the Buffalo Bills and Rod Marinelli of the Detroit Lions.
