There is definitely a lot of shallow rap....there is also some poetic masterpieces. If you don't like it to begin with, you'll never really listen to find them. :shrugs:

Eminem is easily the greatest mc alive.

I love nasty though. Illmatic and it was written were classics.

He fell off hard after the 90s though.

Loved his first couple of CD's when he was raw and said whatever the hell he wanted. Drugs and sellout took over and now he sucks.

I was never much of a fan, I kinda always looked at him like a shock jock but he's a great rapper, kind of pretentious though.

Az and cormega are dope on affirmative action

The firm would have been great had cormega and nas not fueded.

Best nas song is tough as he has many classics. Memory lane and NY state of mind have to be up there in my fav songs.

Illmatic is my favorite rap album of all time.

My favorite song of his is Ether. When that dropped it was a reminder of who Nas really was and how he was as well.

"The Jones can't keep up, well maybe my nigga Nas, but I got stronger after Ether." - Jay Z.

That's the "blah blah snow blah blah I go bam" song right? It is super tight, but it's got nothing on the Fresh Prince. I mean, the theme to Prince of Bel Air, wow...

He may be close to making the most money, but he's not the best. Even on his own tracks.

I will admit that it's about 50/50 right now. For every Young Jeezy and Lil Wayne that exist, there's a J-Live or Clear Soul Forces that make things better. There is a good resurgence of hip-hop coming no matter what groups like Odd Future make you want to think.

This is excellent right here:

I like that. I was always cool with De La Soul, Mos Def...guys like that. You wanna get up and rap about life and be civil about it...I'll listen. But as soon as you make a video where you are throwing money on the floor and driving insanely expensive cars and rapping about how great you are or how you'r going to cap someone...forget it. I have no time for that crap.

I'm a metal fan and the same rules apply there. if the only thing you can sing about is how Satan rules, I lose interest. Some bands are completely one track and it gets boring and annoying after awhile. If the music is outstanding, I may stick with it awhile, but if not...EJECT.

Nah, you just aren't looking in the right places. Death Grips, Das Racist, Shabazz Palaces, Kanye West, Clams Casino, Why?, Mos Def, Outkast, Mos Def, Childish Gambino, etc.

I like the golden age of hip hop and all, but alot of it is so damn boring man. Especially compared to newer rap. Older doesn't mean better.

A lot of eminem's sick shit is forced multiple syllable lines. If that's the standard, Canibus is better..and he's not because he raps about retarded shit disguised as academia or intellectual thoughts.

Eminem is a great rapper, but I have a hard time putting him up there as the greatest of all-time.

When will people realize that music is music but comes in different forms. Each new generation lives with the hate that comes from the previous generations ignorance about the music they listen to. Live and let live.

Personal taste isn't ignorance. Rav isn't ignorant about rap, he just doesn't like it. His post was obviously just him expressing his opinion in a smartass and humorous manner. He didn't say it should be banned or anything. He's living and letting live. By the way, I don't like rap either.

AlWilsonizKING
08-05-2012, 11:16 PM
I wasn't talking about Rav in paticular. More a statement about the population and how the older generations frown upon each younger generations "new" form of musical expression. I could care less what you or anyone else listens to, just get tired of how quickly people like to say they dislike rap music.......who cares what you like or don't like. Don't like rap? Maybe it's better to stay out of a thread titled "Best Rapper Alive is back".....just saying.
