Darius Walker Signs With The Broncos
Posted by Mike Florio on May 7, 2009, 5:41 p.m.
According to the Twitter account of agent Drew Rosenhaus, running back Darius Walker has signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos.

Walker, a former Notre Dame tailback who was undrafted upon leaving school a year early, played for the Texans in 2007, and bounced on and off the team’s roster in 2008.

In Denver, Walker joins a very crowded house at the running back position.

Interesting.....Its interesting that it is a 2 year deal and not a one year deal. Maybe they are planning on trading either one or two of the backs currently on our roster. Just a thought.

Some info above on Walker.

This move seems perplexing, but then you realize that Hillis, Arrington and Torain are all still rehabbing from injury. Walker would be the 4th back right now with two good legs.

So that's plan #1. Plan #2 is to get him to bulk up another 125 lbs and stick him on the defensive line.

Not a big thing, TNed, happens to a lot of rooks.

Apparently Knowshon went to get fitted for his massive set of gold teeth he plans to have installed after his signing bonus comes through, but the test grill was so heavy he face-planted into the orthodontist's sink, gave himself a concussion.

He'll be fine. He's just embarrassed. I don't think signing Darius was really necessary, but I guess if they find a damaged orbital bone or something during the x-ray this'll look like a good move.

Since we need that at the RB possition. Should have signed 2 less RBs and signed 2 more DL players if you want competition...

Im really surprised Denver didnt bring in Roy Williams of Dallas fame. I mean we dont have any safeties that are under the age 100. Might as well bring in 8 safties as well.

FWIW, it could have been a 30yr contract and it wouldn't save him from being cut this summer.

This is wasted money in my opinion. Even if the plan is to trade a couple of these guys, the Walker signing makes little sense. He couldn't hack it in Houston and defintely won't in our back field. McD seems to shop like a woman. Give him money and he is going to spend it, especially on things he doesn't need and has plenty of.

Or if I am at Sportsman's Warehouse, Cabela's, or Bass Pro Shop;):D! I could blow a grand really quick!

I agree I don't understand the strategy in signing another RB, hopefully to lure some defensive insurance!:noidea:

LOL! Same here, my wife banned me from Bass Pro Shop In Destin Florida, LOVE that place.

I'm guessing Pittman and Torain will be trade bait during the preseason as teams lose RB's to injury or realize they don't have the talent they need.

I guess the two year contract is what bugs me about this signing. That and the fact we already have a gazillion RB's on our roster.

I'm guessing that McD remember the 7 guys on IR last year and he wants to get some looks at some guys he may need to bring in during the season if that were to happen again. :shrugs: My guess is a lot of the career backups and the no name guys won't be here come September, but it's better to have an eye on some of the guys that they might need to bring in come December if injuries happen.

i'm pretty sure we already let pittman go,im thinkin we want to make sure WE have the talent WE need during camp and beyond,
we could lose a couple to injury then we wont be one of those teams scrambling....although i do think this is a bit much.

and destin is an awesome place beautiful country around there

My guess is that McD brought him in as a possible PS guy. I don't think any of the other guys that we've got on the roster would last too long there, or be worth investing in. So he brought in Walker who still has potential but would be pretty safe. Also with the experience that he has from other teams he can probably do a pretty good job imitating other teams RBs.
