Oakland's first four games.

SD @ Oakland (Winnable game. Oakland should've beaten them last year in Oakland, but due to Lane Kiffin's/Rob Ryan's conservative playcalling, we lost the lead in the 4th Q.

Your team will lose this one.

Oakland @ KC (We have beaten them two straight years in Arrowhead. Chiefs suck. End of story)

This is your best chance of putting up a "W"...

Denver @ Oakland (I'd be shocked if the Raiders don't hang 35+ points in this game. This will be a beatdown. We're sweeping Denver this year)

Yeah, right. Your team has lost the first meeting with regularity. You'll lose this one too.

Oakland @ Houston (We beat them last year.)

I think Houston will be better this year. Another Raider loss... :D

Your team has a recent history of slow starts...

2003: 2-2 in the first 4 games

Titans: L 25-20
Bengals: W 23-20
Broncos: L 31-10
Chargers: W 34-31

2004: 2-2 in the first 4 games

Steelers: L 24-21
Bills: W 13-10
Buccaneers: W 30-20
Texans: L 30-17
... and in Week 6... Broncos: L 31-3

2005: 1-3 after 4 games

Patriots: L 30-20
Chiefs: L 23-17
Eagles: L 23-20
Cowboys: W 19-13
... and in Week 10... Broncos: L 31-17

2006: 0-4 after 4 games

Chargers: L 27-0
Ravens: L 28-6
bye
Browns: L 24-21
49-ers: L 34-20
... and in Week 6... Broncos: L 13-3

2007: 2-2 at Week 4

Lions: L 36-21
Broncos: L 23-20
Browns: W 26-24
Dolphins: W 35-17

2008: 1-3 at the 4-week mark

Broncos: L 41-14
Chiefs: W 23-8
Bills: L 24-23
Chargers: L 28-18

As is amply demonstrated here, in the past 6 seasons, you've only been at .500 three times and have never had a winning record by Week 4....

Hey OaklandRaider, speaking of QBs. Is that fat-assed QB of yours (Japorkus "the Hutt" Russell) up to his playing weight of 300 lbs yet? Maybe when Japorkus can longer see his feet he will be able to read defenses better and throw more accurately! A #1 QB who can't throw, a #1 receiver who can't catch and an owner who can't draft for shit. Better stay on the KISS look-a-like forum cause you got nothing on the Broncos. Owned, KISS-child.

The same fat ass QB who nearly threw for a perfect game against your defense last year, and has yet to have a bad performance against the Donkeys?

JaMarcus is fine, primed for a breakout year. He has more talent on one of his fat rolls than Kyle Orton has in his whole body.

So because we lost in the past means I can't predict we win the future? You are bringing up old ish. Going by your logic, I guess the Donkeys are in for another epic collapse at the end of the season, since that's what your team has done the last three years.

Kyle Orton wins game, eh? Dude couldn't even beat out REX FRICKIN' GROSSMAN for the majority of his career. That should tell you all you need to know about Orton. The Bears won because of their defense. They won in spite of their QBs.

Orton is getting booed by the Denver fans, while JaMarcus is having a great TC.

hey super stat guy ...why dont you see where the bears D ranked last year and then ask yourself why the bears started an injured orton over all their backups.
please try and use truth or reality when you post your acting like a .....well like a raider fan.

also show me where most teams start rookie qb's ,so that takes 1 year
grossman had taken the bears to a superbowl (its a big game at the end of the season )the year before .and orton did beat out the other qbs to take the starting spot and has won 20 games ,thats like 5-6 years worth of wins for the raiders.
and why do you say most of his career?he has not played most of his career.
by the way i dont recall russell getting the starting nod right away either.
they played andrew walter (maybe the worst qb in the league) over him didnt they?
face it russell has not even come close to living up to expectations so far, and is going to be on a pretty short leash this year

Right. The Broncos have owned the Raiders for six consecutive "first meetings of the season" (that's a pattern; not a fluke and we could actually go back nearly two decades and still find that the Broncos won 75% or more of the time)... yet just because you say this year is different, we're supposed to buy that? Uh... not.

Week One, your Raiders will lose to the Chargers. Just like they have done it in the last 11 or so consecutive games.

Its preseason. Dont get your hopes up too high like you have the last 5 years. But, i didnt realize you guys signed Grabowski. I think he should actually be starting as i liked him while he was in Tampa. Now, there is a kid who deserves a shot at being a starter. Are the Raiders planning on mixing it up with the backup QB's during preseason or is there a definite #2 there? (aside from Garcia)

It's called "Paypal"...

Are you seriously bragging about tonight's win? When the starters went out of the game, the score was 7-3 Dallas and neither team had looked at all intimidating. 6 of 9 for 50 yards, no touchdowns... add in a sack for 11 yards lost... is not scary to the rest of the AFC West... extrapolate it out and you'd be looking at 24 completions for 200 yards (the epitome of dink-and-dunk). Both of your backups outplayed JaMarshmallow... of course they were going up against the Cowgirls' 2nd and 3rd stringers. Too funny. :coffee:

Based on a preaseason game in which your #1 overall QB looked unimpressive? Kid, in the regular season you won't be facing camp fodder with your 2nd and 3rd stringers. And the opposing OC and DC will be gameplanning for your team. And I sincerely doubt that your WRs will have anywhere close to Marshall's or Royal's numbers (Schliens alone certainly won't eclipse the stats of both Marshall and Royal... too funny that you'd even make that claim. You're the only Raiderfan I've ever encountered in cyberspace who would say that. ). Not with JaMarshmallow throwing to them, they won't.

He played three plays. One was a tackle for loss (which last time I checked wasn't considered "paltry") And forced an incompletion on third down. He doesn't have to have a pass defensed to have forced an incompletion.

Which they will do this season. I'm on the record as saying that the Raiders will win 10 games next year.

We have two of the best corners in the game. A great pass rushing defensive line. A top ten Tight End in Zach Miller. A WR corps with a HUGE amount of upside and speed. Chaz Schilens is a Calvin Johnson clone. The best three runningback group in the NFL in Bush, McFadden and Fargas. An improved, revitalized offensive line. A young, up and coming QB with all the talent in the world. And a tremendous coaching staff.

I couldnt name 1 of your "great pass rushers" could you make me laugh and name a few?

also.... If Chaz Schilens is a Calvin Johnson clone (hard to be a clone of the best WR prospect in NFL history) why did he drop all the way to the 7th round?

What makes him even comparable to Calvin Johnson aside from the physical traits?

Calvin Johnson is the best WR in the game today..... this scrub is nothing more then a work out warrior.

but you are on record for the Raiders winning 10 games this year... just like you predicted last year, and probably the year before... and so on.

Nothing more then an uneducated homer.... who will be disapointed yet again.

It was just announced that Chris Johnson is the starter in Oakland.

He wasnt always the starter, in fact most of his career this scrub wasnt doing crap but running the scout team on the practice squad.

2 of the best CB's in the game... LOL

Chris Johnson isnt a top 30 CB... Hell Andre Goodman is much better, that isnt even an argument.

Jamarcus hasnt accomplished half of what Orton has nor has he proven that he is a better Quarterback at this point.

LOL, what has Orton accomplished in his scrub of a career?

He was a backup to REX FREAKING GROSSMAN, ffs. He is not a good QB, period.

JaMarcus Russell is the better QB right now, and I don't think it's even close.

JaMarcus Russell is bigger, stronger, more mobile, smarter, reads coverages better, can make all the throws, better decision maker, harder to take down, better leader.

Basically everything you look for in a QB, JaMarcus is better at than Orton.

Now that the Raiders have finally surrounded Russell with talent, he is going to explode this season.

Pull the stats on me... Andre Goodman is a MUCH better Cornerback then Chris Johnson

half a year doesnt change this.

Tony Pisano had Johnson listed at 6 in CB metrics last year, Goodman was ranked 31st.

6. Chris Johnson, Oakland Raiders
Season Totals: 49 attempts, 5.39 YPA, 53.06 Forced INC%, 1 TD, 3 INTs

My two cents: Where the heck did this guy come from? Who Knows Rolling Eyes After the releasing of DeAngelo Hall, Chris Johnson stepped in and dominated opposing WRs. Johnson had some of the best numbers in the NFL and if not for limited playing time he would be ranked even higher. Many people probably just looked at the box score during a Week 16 victory over Houston and thought it was Nnamdi Asomugha who shutdown Andre Johnson. While Asomugha didn’t allow a catch in that game, Johnson had an equally impressive afternoon. Johnson was thrown at seven times, allowed four yards, and intercepted a pass. In fact, the four yards that Johnson allowed were the only yards yielded by an Oakland CB that game.

31. Andre Goodman, Miami Dolphins
Season Totals: 94 attempts, 6.96 YPA, 35.11 Forced INC%, 1 TD, 5 INTs

My two cents: Nobody is more surprised to see Andre Goodman on a best anything list. Goodman was so bad in the beginning of the year. I had Goodman on my worst starting CBs list in early October and deservingly so. I don’t know what happened, but Goodman really played great football over the second half of the season. In his last five games Goodman posted a YPA of 3.58 and a 34.88 forced incompletion percentage. He also didn’t allow a TD and managed to intercept four passes over that five game stretch.

So you can't really use the excuse that Johnson only played great for half the season, when Goodman did the same thing except that he was one of the WORST CB's in the NFL the first half of the season.

Johnson > Goodman :coffee:

Odell agrees wholeheartedly

Allow me to point out that I celebrated when we cut him. Odell had as much talent as any MLB in the game, and that included Ray Lewis. In his rookie year he had 3 forced fumbles, 5 ints, 100 tackles, 3 sacks, and was a monster. His instincts were amazing and honestly at times it looked like he was playing a different game.

Odell never popped off at the mouth. Odell decided that his solution to his rough life was to drink, drink, and drink, and drink. He drank himself out of the league. Cincinnati gave Odell one last chance (and one that didn't absolutely piss me off like we did with Henry). His grandmother died (who was essentially his mother) and Cincinnati gave him 4 days past the funeral to be with his family. They sent down a member of the organization to go with him.

Odell picked up a beer and was quickly out of the league.

He deserved what he got. He really did, but what I will say for Odell is that he wasn't a terrible human being, he was an utter idiot.

I never recall him ever popping off at the mouth.

He really could have been a HOFer. :tsk:

Then he would post some utterly unconvincing statistics to supposedly prove his point - say perhaps that when in Middle school his guy held the county record for most flutter kicks or something.

When I need some tips on how to come up with the lamest possible analogies (you're an expert at doing that), then I'll ask you.

But until then, stay out of grown folks conversations. :2thumbs:

I never knew comparing stats was grown folks conversation. If you want to have a grown folks conversation, we can talk about which community college you could go to so that you can get that degree in Waste Management you always wanted. I also think that's at least the 3rd or 4 hundredth time you have used that phrase. It might save you more time to just say:

Asomugha, a decent CB on a bad defense.

You know, as it is common knowledge that the Raiders are complete garbage, I have always been well aware of this fact.

But I must say, one really has to see this train wreck to truly believe how bad this team is in every imaginable way. It is like a sweat shop. We all know they exist, and are horrible. But we never fully grasp the horror of them, until Dateline does a special on them.

Even the worst teams in the NFL prove to be competitive. But there is absolutely no rays of hope in Oakland. Everything about that team is ugly. Even their playing surface is ugly.

Drew Brees has always owned the Raiders, and he probably always will. We played them last year, and I think Brees only missed three passes the whole game. The Raiders just don't match up well against the Saints. Drew Brees has always picked apart the Raiders man to man defense. That is the best offense in the league, but it's still no excuse for the Raiders to come out like they did.

Before this game, the Raiders starters have all had pretty good games in the other two games. Maybe an ass beating is what the Raiders needed.

New Raider Greg Ellis unloads after blowout
Posted by Tom Curran on August 30, 2009 10:05 AM ET

Through 11 seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Greg Ellis became familiar with what a circus atmosphere could be like.

But did he know when he signed with the Raiders in June that he was climbing into the NFL's biggest clown car?

After Oakland's 45-7 (it wasn't even that close) loss to the Saints on Saturday, the 34-year-old defensive end spoke to his teammates through reporters.

"Guys, you can't stay out all night, can't expect to come in here and just turn it on," Ellis was quoted as saying by Paul Gutierrez of the Sacramento Bee. "This isn't high school or college football. This is the best of the best in the NFL. So you've got to do those small things that you maybe didn't have to do in college."

As bad as the Raiders offense played, the defense -- of which Ellis now finds himself a part -- was even worse.

Gutierrez notes, "The Raiders first-team defense played through the third quarter and was responsible for most of the 536 total yards surrendered including a galling 232 yards on the ground."

Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who led New Orleans to touchdowns on all three of his drives, said, "I feel like a lot of times we were getting up to the ball, getting set and they were still trying to get lined up."

Making matters even more dicey for the Raiders is that their best player, corner Nnamdi Asomugha, suffered a chip fracture in his wrist against New Orleans. Oakland downplayed the severity of it, but a corner kind of needs to use his hands and it could very well nag him all year.

All in all, despite the pretzel logic employed by some to conclude that the Raiders might be galvanized after head coach Tom Cable's alleged beatdown of assistant coach Randy Hanson, the opposite is true.

The Raiders are a mess.

The Raiders have had a very good preseason leading up until that game. When our starters came out in the previous two games, we had the lead in both. Your Broncos have never had the lead in all three preseason games when the starters came out of the game. I'd be more worried if I were you.

And as I said, New Orleans is just a matchup problem for the Raiders. They are better than us, and I will admit that.

Denver on the other hand looks sad. Your fans show up to the game, expecting Jay Cutler to be sacked, and picked off. Instead, Cutler shits on your defense on national television.

Honestly I think you guys' offense would be a lot better if you started Brandstater over Orton. I live in California, and I see a lot of Frenso St games and Brandstater has a lot of potential.

Your offense is just boring to watch. 4 yard screen, 2 yard curl route, 3 yard hitch play. Ugh. Josh McDaniels is trying to compensate for Orton's lack of arm strength by running quick passing plays that don't fool anybody.

You guys have Eddie Royal, who has 4.3 speed. But you won't be able to use Royal like he should be used, because Orton can't trow the ball down the field. Royal won't reach his full potential until you guys get a QB that can throw the ball downfield.

Your WR's will essentially be runningbacks this year because you can't throw the ball 20 yards down the field. It's going to be a long year in Dungver this year.

At least you guys have the Rockies and Nuggets to look forward too. :coffee:

I would bet money that JaMarcus goes to the pro bowl in either this year, or next year.

He's ready.

The crazy thing is, I actually agree with you. With the amount of Doritos Jamarcus goes through, the odds are definitely in his favor to win them ProBowl tickets this year or next.

He is ready.

I admit to not watching every snap of every preseason game but I'm pretty sure that dough boy leads the league in the catagory of self sacks so he has that going for him I guess.

Well he certainly looks alot better than Kyle Orton and his 61.0 QB rating.

So exactly which QB is he going to surpass among Brady, Manning, Roethlisberger, or Rivers in the next 2 years? If you think he is going to to be at or above any of their levels any time soon you are sadly kidding yourself.

Rivers is not a likable guy. He had the best season out of all AFC QBs last year, and still didn't get voted into the pro bowl.

Kerry freaking Collins went to the pro bowl last year, and JaMarcus had a better season than him last year.

I have already said the pro bowl is a joke, but it seems as though if your team is winning which I am confident the Raiders will be in the next two years, then you have a pretty good chance of getting in.

Plus with the obvious massive talent JR possesses, and with weapons growing around him, watch out.

Asomugha expected to play in Week 1

Although Oakland Raiders cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha has a chipped bone in his left wrist, he is expected to play in the Monday Night Football opener against the San Diego Chargers in Oakland, according to a team source.

Earlier, a source said that Asomugha was expected to miss two weeks, putting his availablility for the season opener in jeopardy.

How debilitating the injury is will be a major concern throughout the season.

Asomugha is the top bump-and-run cornerback in the league. If his wrist is bothering him, it's going to be more challenging for Asomugha to grab wide receivers at the line of scrimmage.

Asomugha is the least of the Raiders' concerns after their dreary weekend against the Saints -- just the latest one.

Adam Schefter is ESPN's NFL Insider.

Nnamdi sees the young talent on the Raiders. Nnamdi knows it's only a matter of time before all of our young talent breaks out. Nnamdi wants to be apart of that.

Plus, Nnamdi could've easily left and got as much dough as he did with the Raiders. Had he of hit free agency, I guarantee you teams would've payed him as much as we did, if not more.

Players like Nnamdi come around once every...well never. We've never seen a player like Nnamdi. He is the first of his kind.

Cutler hardly picked us apart. He was the same dude. One descent drive. That's it.

Did you watch the game? Did you see all the three-and-outs?

On the other hand, your vaunted defense gave up 45. A pretty sorry performance. And only 7 points scored with all those additional possessions? LOL in your face, dude.

In a cosmic perspective that is true, as it was "only a matter of time" from the birth of the Dinosaurs till the rise of mammals. Regardless, by the time The Raiders are good again, Nnamdi wont be there.

BTW, the lions have more talent then you.

And as far as Russell is concerned, I dont see 'enormous talent'. Unless "talent" is a codeword for love-handles.

Dude, he drove 98 yards down the field. That's the second longest drive in NFL History.

His QB rating on that drive was 129.16. He threw for 85 yards on that drive.

So yes, he tore you up. "Decent drive"... LMAO. That was funny.

Well considering the longest drive is a 99 yard drive, and we know that several teams in history have had touchdown drives starting from the opponents 2 yard line, that is hardly a feat.

Scoring 45 points against a defense that has the "best CB of all time", now that is something.
