Hmmm... I wish Bruton and Moreno were opposite... but it doesn't really matter.

Anyone know if these numbers are "locked in" or can they change once we get closer to the season?

I'm pretty sure Royal changed his number last year after the early mini camps...I think he had a number in the 80's early on.

i think he was 13... because i'm pretty sure that's what his number was on madden's original rosters. could be wrong.

Knowshon Moreno # 27 looks awesome. However, it will be emotional at home game. We won't forget about Darrent Williams. Also, We won't forget Steve Atwater, too.

Honestly, # 27 is a lucky number for players. Atwater and Williams were outstanding players. So, Moreno would be an outstanding player, too.

good question. . . . i think it's possible, but either way i hope he can live up to the guy that had it most of the past decade. . .

I think Moreno will look sweet in #27. I'm glad to see someone finally don the # after Williams' death and I think Moreno will do him proud! I was hoping for him to pick #34 originally but I'll be just happy with #27.

Ayers carrying on the Big Orange tradition in 56 is a match made in heaven.

#11 will look dope on Kenny McKinley.

Gary Zimmerman's 65 will look good on Rulon Davis.

Alphonso Smith's number, 33, doesn't look so good on a cornerback.

Posted by ESPN.com's Bill Williamson

No. 27 is back in circulation in Denver.

The number was put on hiatus as a tribute to slain cornerback Darrent Williams. The popular Williams, who was 24 at the time of his death, was shot and killed in downtown Denver on Jan. 1, 2007, hours after the team's season ended.

After not being used the past two seasons, the number will be worn by Denver rookie running back Knowshon Moreno. The Broncos picked Moreno, out of Georgia, with the 12th choice in last weekend's draft. He is expected to be the starting running back for an offense that may become more run-oriented in the wake of the Jay Cutler trade to Chicago.

Moreno, who wore No. 24 in college (that's worn by All-Pro cornerback Champ Bailey in Denver), asked for the number this week. The Broncos then called Williams' mother, Rosalind Williams, to ask permission to use the number. The Williams family called the Broncos back and gave their blessing for Moreno to wear the number -- on one condition.

They plan to ask Moreno to donate a few hours of his time each month to the Darrent Williams Teen Center, which was opened in a low-income part of Denver last May to honor the Williams' memory. Moreno wore the number at the team's minicamp practice Friday.

"We knew that number wasn't going to be on the shelf forever," said Troy Asmus, the Williams family's spokesman. "We would like Knowshon to be part of the community center to help with the growth and maturation of these kids."

good story. . . . it's very cool that they went out of the way to consult D-will's family, and cool that knowshon will be giving a bit of his time to the community center. . . . :2thumbs:

Looks like he won't be changing after training camp like some suggested. He wanted to wear #27. I'm sure he'll wear it proud.

Also, love that Ayers is wearing 56.

I like that Moreno did that. I don't like Bruton wearing 30.

Also I like having all of our big name receivers wear 11-19.
