Coaches look for starters who will contribute. GMs look for starters who will contribute. They don't put some of the ridiculous expectations on picks that fans do. They don't look at a pick and think he should be a hall of famer. They look for starters, as fans put way too much emphasis on the first round pick being the best player in the league. It happens every year.

Now that salaries are more in line with reality, you're seeing that the true value of first rounders isn't as much as you might have thought.

FYI, we got totally fleeced by the Pats. According to the chart the difference between 31 and 25 is 120 points (600-720) the 126th overall pick is only worth 46 points. They'd have had to trade us a third rounder (95th overall) for equal value. We should've gotten a late 3rd for moving back, we got a late 4th... IT WAS A BULLSHIT MOVE.
