It sickens me every time I see the salaries of these players.

I know they deserve a piece of the pie from all the money they help bring in to their respective franchise, but still.

What's worse is paying these 1st round rookies ridiculous money before they've proven themselves!!!

Exactly. I wish they would cut the salaries in half and do the same with ticket prices.

Hopefully when the the new CBA is complete this happens.

I agree. They should institute a salary cap on rookies. That way teams like Detroit wouldn't be thinking about skipping thier pick at number 1 because they don't want to have to pay the number 1 money to someone that is not proven.

They really should restructure how the rookies get paid.

You could have a base salary for players with the years they have played: Say players 1-3 yrs gets $$$$$, 4-6yrs gets $$$$$$, 7-9yrs gets $$$$$ and so on. They get paid more through incentatives and bonuses after they have proven themselves worthy which will be different for each player.... in other words the better you play, the more you get paid! I don't know if this would work but it's a thought and yes I know they're union!!

Hell yeah. I am an incentive based guy. I say we pay base salary, them incentive bonus kick in every TD, Field goal, Rushing/recieving yard, block, etc....

You'd see a different and better game because they'd actually have to earn their pay instead of pulling the "Randy Moss" which is I didn't feel like showing up this game and trying. There's more players than just Moss doing this crap.

I'll bet the new CBA will address the ridiculous amount of money that goes to the rookies.

And his brother!!!! Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him drop at least 3 times a game and maybe last 5 games this year!!

No way Boss is worth that kind of money, odds are if we draft 2 OLB's this year he probably won't even start.

There is an article out there that says it is cheaper to keep him. If we released him it would be some sort of injury grievance......

That sucks. June 1st cut maybe? This has to rank up there as one of the worst free agent signings in the history of the orginzation in terms of what we paid and what the results were.

Dirk

yeah, it seems like he doesn't even play on the team as much as we have seen of him. There should be a written clause in the contracts that say...."if you don't play because you are injury prone the contract is void". :D

I agree per see but for cap purposes that also needs to have be capped out somewhere also..

If not he have a base of X and the Rich teams DAL and WAS sign all the primo players low balled and add 3 times the incentive values so they sky over the cap values that are supposed to be there to make the league competitive..

Hope that makes sense..

The way I would do it is have the price set by the league. Example, the NFL says each rushing TD is worth $100,000. Each recieving TD is worth $75,000. Each rushing yard is worth a $1000, recieving yard is worth $500 etc......

Right now, the marque players make far more than that..... In my mind it would bring back allot of the fire and excitement,.

There would be some pissed off players though. Lots of "Give me the ball" shit......

Sounds interesting. But yeah, you would definately have the..."Give me the ball" and TO type attitudes on every team because they didn't get enough "ball time".

thats why teams dont like to trade up for a top 5 pick in the draft. especially #1 overall. if we trade up to draft a stinking rookie qb this year i'll be extremely pissed. i actually think both qb's stock is falling anyway.

We need to trade Champ or cut him.

no player is untouchable right? seriously this makes sense. if we could get a 1st and 3rd for bailey id take that deal in a second. since were in this whole rebuild mode why not go all in? i like bailey but if we can deal cutler then we sure as hell could deal bailey. there are several db's in this years draft that we could find as a replacement. im all for keeping this defense young and i think we should sell high and buy low.

Are you guys possibly this stupid? Oh wait you're fans. MAJORITY of fans are stupid.

Champ Bailey signed something called a contract. You don't just pick a random season and determine hey, you are worth _____ this year, so we will cut you or trade you!

No dumb ****s, this is why long term contracts are a huge deal.

Let's see how Champ performs with a decent pass rush. Team/player salaries will never always equal performance of previous year.

NO wonder this economy has gone to the shit hole.

Are you kidding me?

This has got to be the dumbest idea I've ever read.

So now you're creating competition upon a team. What do the blockers get for that rushing TD or that 50 yard pass or run? Every time you see a score it's not a 1 or 2 or 3 man job. Someone catches a TD because other WR's/TE's took up defenders to get another receiver open, etc.

What a great idea, lets have our teammates compete against each other.

:tsk:
