Adrenalin creates 50th-anniversary logo for Denver Broncos

Adrenalin Inc. has designed an official logo for the Denver Broncos to commemorate the NFL team’s 50th anniversary.

The football-shaped design by the Denver-based brand agency will be used by the team and the National Football League on uniforms, signs and programs to mark the beginning of the former American Football League in 1960.

The Broncos and seven other AFL teams began play that year. The Broncos played the first-ever AFL game on Sept. 9, 1960, defeating the Boston (now New England) Patriots, 13-10.

Years later, the AFL was absorbed into the NFL; most of its teams are now part of the NFL’s American Football Conference.

“Adrenalin has been our ‘go to’ agency for over eight seasons,” Greg Carney, VP of marketing for the Broncos, said Thursday in a statement. “Their willingness to listen to our objectives and goals, and their keen understanding of our market, makes them the team to work with on branding and marketing initiatives.”

Adrenalin also worked with the Broncos on their “Broncos Country” campaign.

Wish they would have put the old logo on it somewhere, not much of a nod to the past.

I like the symbolism of an arrow pointing to the past and future.

Simple, tasteful. Not bad. I wouldn't have minded seeing something with the D with the horse just for the nostalgia, but all in all I think it's pretty well done.

I think it would have looked better to have the first logo and the present logo - side by side.

I know simplicity is the idea when doing somthing like this since its going to be used on so many different forms of media... from color, to b/w... to newspaper.. to internet... to screen printing. But still. Thats a pretty basic job for a company that got paid a lot of money to do it.

The logo lazily stamped over the top of the 50 is the kicker - makes it look like our "lopsided" logo just didn't the generic template.

It looks like a personalized license plate.

I have a hunch that the other original AFL teams (Raiders, Chiefs, Chargers, Patriots, Bills, Jets & Titans) will have simmilar 50th anniversary logos as will. If you remember the 25th anniversary logos, all 8 of the them had the exact same base design.

Count how many seasons there were from 1960-1964: 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963 and 1964. The count total is 5, not 4. The first season was 1960, the second season was 1961 and so forth. This is how 2009 will be the 50th season and how the new millennium started in 2001, not 2000.

I agree. Pretty plain and simple.

They should have done some type of morph design from the hillbilly horse to the D then to today's logo. Showing the 50 years and the transformation over those years.

Your base number is 0, you should count from 1:

1960 = year 1
61 = 2

I agree how can you not celebrate our past without the D. Which is way better than the newer logo, sorry I am a tradtionalist.

I hope we see some good throwbacks as well, not the vertical striped unis.
