I thought drafting Tebow was a mistake and I think signing Manning is a mistake but it is what it is. I'm a Broncos fan first so I hope it all works. Time to tear down the rebuilding effort and go buy up a bunch of veterans so we can try to get a Super Bowl in the next 3-4 years. I honestly think it will fall short and set the franchise back but it is what it is.

I don't want to jinx it but if it does happen and we get rid of Tebow I just want to thank him for making us relavent, a team that was exciting to watch and never gave up, and how he never listened to haters and did his thing. The only thing that sucked was that he brought us some crazy fans. As a FSU fan I am programmed to dislike all UF football players especially him since he abused FSU during his time in Gainesville. Once he became a Bronco I had to ride out with him so here is a big thanks for helping us to the AFC West Title and a playoff win.

Great points. His fanbase really turned me off and thats unfortuante. Love the kid, his desire and passion but man the loons that follow him really sour the Tebow experience. Having him be traded is only really great because the idiots will follow him as i dont want that circus here.

Defense needs some help but a lot of work? Nah. People forget that the lack of offense last year put a HUGE strain on the defense. The defense kept us in a lot of games and allowed Tebow to do some of the things he did well but now with Manning it will allow the defense more rest time and not too have to try and hold opposing offenses for 3 quarters on a regular basis.

Actually, I think it was all about Elway. He was the Broncos' trump card, IMO . . .

I agree Top and every so does everyone on ESPN said that John sold it. Plus Stink said something really interesting that he loves his family but during football season they are a distraction and with Manning eating and breathing football he does not need the distractions.

I think I am as happy for Deckers and DT. I bet they look a lot better this next season. I bet Willis is doing back flips that he gets to work with Manning.

I agree North. I bet Champ is down right giddy right now. It's been so long then the chance of a lead has been there. I really think Bunk will rethink things too. Having a HOF QB takes a lot of pressure off the D.

How do you figure that? We just signed one of the biggest FA EVER in the NFL, and you think he would be run out of town for taking a chance on Manning???

Give Manning the offense and get out of the way. The best "conductor" in the game.

Simple game plan.
Win the toss, get the ball first, score touchdown, unleash defensive ends, hold to fg, get ball back, score td, repeat...

Worked for 12 years with us.

yes u should bring Saturday in and Clark. Lets not forget Clark roomed with Peyton for yrs in Indy. Saturday has been with PM forever they work with and understading like no others. Freeney Needs help with his PR thois still 1 of the best..and lets be honest the D could use some help in that area.

I agree North. I bet Champ is down right giddy right now. It's been so long then the chance of a lead has been there. I really think Bunk will rethink things too. Having a HOF QB takes a lot of pressure off the D.

Hey, I am a Broncos fan and certainly hope you guys are right. The offense on the field more means the defense off the field more. Hope so.

Definitely happy with this signing.
I hate to see Timmy Touchdown go (last season was the most fun I've had since Elway retired) but if Manning stays healthy it will be worth it.
I hope Tebow has a great career. I'll definitely be watching...

P.S. From what I have seen on the boards so far, I think we are trading one set of fanatics for another. No need to even pull the tent pegs on the circus...

I think one major reason we landed Manning is because our FO didn't turn this into a dog and pony show. They talked Manning's language, FOOTBALL! And they gave him his space while he made his decision.

I know I, along with others, have been frustrated with not signing very many FAs yet but it looks like the wait is gonna be well worth it. We do need to fill out the roster. But our FO in two years have drafted a once in a lifetime defensive rookie of the year and signed arguably the biggest FA in NFL history.

Good job EFX. Now spend the rest of that money on defense and whatever Peyton wants.

Adam Schefter reports on ESPN TV that the Broncos have a "free-agent plan" in place including bringing in C Jeff Saturday to make Peyton more comfortable.

And they already have a list of FAs they are going to get.

Also the Manning deal is reportedly discussed between Elway and Manning will be in the vicinity of $95 million on a 5 year contract.

Peyton Manning will become the next quarterback of the Denver Broncos, barring a snag during intensified contract negotiations that have commenced under the instruction of the four-time MVP to his agent Tom Condon, according to multiple sources.

Once the Manning deal becomes official, Denver will try to trade Tim Tebow, according to sources.

Manning instructed Condon to negotiate the finite details of a contract that would conclude with him joining the Broncos after a frenzied but focused process that began when the Indianapolis Colts released him March 7.

I just heard someone quoting Peyton's Drs saying it is ludicrous to believe that Peyton's neck is at anymore risk than any other player. The problem isn't really neck and it's not bone, it's a nerve thing and the danger is he never gets his full arm strength back. Just reporting what I heard.

That's what I heard too, that it's a nerve thing and it's the same thing Lynch had when he came to Denver. The difference is that John Lynch still had to hit people.

I am so dang happy I can't stop smiling.

Plus my friend was able to get us 2 tickets for the season, so I'm doing the Snoopy Dance. Just need to keep the energy up since I'm driving to Sacramento tomorrow....all good wishes for good weather are appreciated......:D

Note to self, Draft DT. He created separation non stop every single game last year over and over again. Just no one to throw him the ball. I am going out on a limb and saying, He is going to crack the top 20 of most receiving yards in a season.

Manning is our QB for up to 5 years. Fantastic. Really, it is. I thought the Broncos were looking for long-term solutions to rebuild the team and make it strong over time. No place to go but up. With Manning on board and talks of trading Tebow, who is going to be the back-up? Do they not think that Tebow could learn from Manning?

I haven't followed many threads on this subjects, and I probably missed it where this was talked about.

I remember a damaged nerve in Marino's neck is ultimately what ended his career...He could never throw the ball with the same velocity in his final year and the injury resulted in him getting picked off...a lot...

I just hope its not the same with Manning, but I have seen this be an issue before and the fact that he had to sit out an entire year as a result just adds to my concerns.

Plantar Faciitis is a bitch to deal with. It dragged him down last year - that and his knee concerns me. The other reason he was released was a large upcoming roster bonus...

I agree. I keep hearing how it's a forgone conclusion that he's gone one way or the other, but what I haven't heard is why?

He's under contract, it's unlikely we will get much, if anything for him, and there's been no confirmation that he's demanding anything or has another place to start.

The only argument I can see is that he's either a 'distraction' which is a pretty weak excuse, IMHO, or Manning said specifically that he wanted him gone as a condition to come to Denver (but I doubt this is it, why would he care?)

I know, I know, Tebow can't run Peyton's offense, but who are we expecting to bring in that can?

With Tebow we played a round of "have a pretty damn good season for Manning".

Going to be a bit weird cheering for Manning after all these years of hating him.

As for Tim Tebye-bye, I won't miss the erratic throws or the fanatic cult. I wish him well but feel TT has already peaked as an NFL QB and is on his way to being a package player. I wouldn't hate keeping him here in that role, but don't feel it makes a lot of sense to take the ball out of Manning's hands to give Tebow touches. Even in goalline situations, rather have Peyton calling the shots.

Also doesn't make sense to keep Tebow as a back-up. He's not going to get the development reps he needs to improve. He also can't run even a watered down version of Manning's offense. Sure any back-up is going to be a step down from a healthy Manning, but you still need to have a pocket passer behind Manning to minimize the change as much as possible. If Tebow is the back-up, it means going from an offense likely to average 30+ passes per game to one that attempts less than 10 when things go well. Not going to happen.

Peaked after 16 games? That seems more than slightly unfair, but it's going to be a moot point soon.

Also, I don't understand the chicken/egg rationality of how many passes Tebow attempts per game. It's not like he was calling run plays, McCoy was. I know the argument is going to be that he called those plays because Tebow couldn't execute pass plays, but then one has to wonder why we left a QB on the roster who COULD attempt pass plays.

And it's not like Tebow didn't attempt any passes, there were several games where he attempted over 25 passes and for the most part that was successful. The conservative nature was stuck with because it was working, not because Tebow was giving run audibles.

McCoy is on record saying he wasn't familiar with the read-option offense, but it played to his QB strengths so he incorporated it. Fox is on record saying Tebow couldn't run a more contemporary offense. It's pretty clear why the offense was as it was.

This is 100% true. His nerve regeneration and arm strength were in question. Nerve regenerates over time, and could plateau during recovery, but Peytons nerve has still been regenerating to the point where its safe to say Manning can make 50-70 consecutive throws in a workout (worked out for den, titans, SF) and even his throwing with brandon stokley. he has a lot of time until september, and Im confident peyton will be back to his old self by then.

Peyton's work ethic is what seperates him from many, and what really makes him great. Expect him to spend loads of time with the receivers to build up chemistry and timing with routes (both VERY important keys to peytons playing style)

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything either. They didn't call many pass plays so Tebow didn't pass. And?

It may be clear to you, but having a guy that COULD pass left on the bench doesn't make much sense. Either passing isn't all that important in terms of winning, or they didn't want Timmy to pass regardless of what it meant in terms of winning/losing.

I'll honestly say that I'm not sure. My best guess is that they wanted to have control over his production. They wanted to be able to point to this fact as justification for dumping him if it came down to it.

Tebow had the one of the lowest 3rd down % (if not the lowest) in the league, I think he was the most innacurate QB in the league, and we were averaging over 4 yards a carry. I think the answer is obvious.

They wanted to convert 3rd downs, and Tebow is a terrible passer.

Perhaps, but regardless of passing stats Tebow did more with less than Manning (either one), Rodgers, Brees, and Rivers did in their first season as the starter. Dude won a playoff game. Something Plummer did once in 4 years, Cutler never did, Orton never did, and Griese never did. Arguably, Tebow's first season rivals Roethlisberger's first season, production wise (playoff win). Roethlisberger wasn't a top passer and was backed by the leagues best rushing offense and top defense. Tebow didn't even have a "top" defense. We were still in the bottom half of the league on defense last year.

Roethlisberger led the Steelers and their top 5 defense to the AFCCG where he lost to, you guessed it, Tom Brady (they got blown out). His second season, he led the Steelers to the Superbowl where he had the worst statistical game of any SB winning QB. Once again, Roethlisberger wasn't the guy he is now until year 3 as the starter.

I just don't understand all the surety that Tebow can't possibly get better and no matter what, a team will have to change its offense around him and run an option offense, or that he'll never be able to win from the pocket. I remember that we didn't change the offense for Tebow the last 3 games of 2010 and he wasn't terrible. He went 1/3 W/L and almost beat the Chargers in the last game of the season. We didn't run the option then. We ran the offense we ran with Orton. We averaged more points with Tebow in those 3 games than we had with Orton. We ran the read-option last year to try to play to Tebow's strengths, but I think in doing so, we actually hindered his development.

It really doesn't matter now that Manning is on his way, but Tebow did a ton for this franchise and glossing that over with completion % is selling him short and not telling the whole story. Had Tebow beaten the Pats and then lost to the Ravens in the AFCCG, would you still feel the same way? Had he beat the Pats and Ravens and lost to the Giants in the Superbowl, would you feel the same way? My point is, had Manning not become available and the shot at a HOF QB who might help us win NOW not presented itself, I think we'd be going forward with Tebow and I'd have been fine with that. I'd still like to keep and develop Tebow.
