lol, this is tough...

Denver Broncos
Quarterback: The trade of Jay Cutler automatically makes this a top priority for the Broncos. That is unless they believe Kyle Orton is more than a stopgap. Mark Sanchez played in the same system as Matt Cassel at USC, and we all know how much Josh McDaniels loves Cassel.

Nose tackle: If the Broncos are going to move toward a 3-4 defense, they need to find a big-bodied two-gapper who can clog up the middle. That player isn't on the roster at this point. Boston College's Ron Brace could be the answer in the second round.

Defensive end: Kenny Peterson re-signed with the Broncos and Darrell Reid came over from the Indianapolis Colts, but neither is an impact player with impressive size, strength or athleticism. LSU's Tyson Jackson is a grinder who could be an option in the first round, or the Broncos could take a player like San Jose State's Jarron Gilbert in the third round.

Safety/cornerback: The Broncos signed CB Andre' Goodman and safeties Renaldo Hill and Brian Dawkins in free agency, but all of them are 30 or older. Cornerback Champ Bailey (30) is no spring chicken either, so Denver needs a hybrid corner/safety for depth behind the veterans.

Center: Broncos starter Casey Wiegmann is 35, and it's a strong draft for centers. Connect the dots.

Linebacker: A team that plays a 3-4 defense can't have enough linebackers. The Broncos could use a pass rusher from the right side opposite Elvis Dumervil, and despite the signing of Andra Davis to play next to Boss Bailey, they also could use a strong tackler inside.

Wide receiver: Brandon Marshall could miss up to eight games if his latest off-the-field incident leads to a league-mandated suspension. Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley and Jabar Gaffney can hold the fort for a few games, but beyond that, the Broncos have to think about another player to fill the void.

Kicker: Matt Prater has a strong leg, but his accuracy was a big question mark in 2008. He connected on just 73.5 percent of his field-goal attempts last season and has made 68.4 percent in his two-year NFL career. He's strictly a kickoff specialist.

Draft choices: Nos. 12, 18, 48, 79, 84, 114, 140, 149, 185, 225, 235

But I disagree with Pat, Ron Brace is not a two-gapper

He looks more like a two gapper than Raji does, and say that knowing that I would like to have Raji.

i agree that orton is a stop gap player. we dont need to draft or sign anyone this year. i hope we concentrate on next year for a qb.

and i'll be uber pissed if we trade up for sanchez. you want him then STAY PUT if he's there and he's the guy then take him but dont trade up.

in my opinion i think raji will be there after his failed drug test. might as well pair him up along side the other toker in thomas. then draft knowshon moreno at 18.

hell that's a lot of needs.

Andra Davis play next to Boss Bailey? I dont know if you guys have heard, but there was a rumor that Boss might be an inside Linebacker in our system

SOLB- Elvis Dumervil

SILB- Andra Davis

WILB- Boss Bailey

WOLB- DJ Williams

I kinda like it, but I doubt this happens.

I prefer Rey next to Andra and DJ is trade bait...he just doesnt fit a 3-4.

How does DJ not fit the 3-4 as an inside backer?

Other than him, we have all second-string worthy linebackers. Andra is a backup no better than Niko. Boss can't possibly play middle. And Dum has zero experiance in coverage...

DJ is a WILL...nothing else. He's played the others and not with much success. Had alot of tackles in the middle...but that was more by default. I think he's capable of playing there in a 3-4, but I think there will eventually be better options.

Davis is underrated to an extent. he's a good leader and knows the sceme and produces. Comparing him to Niko is ridiculous.

I dunno man, I didn't watch much of the Browns this season, but listening to Soloman Wilcots today, he was saying that the guy was overrated and would be a nice backup, but would be a liability as a starter. I wouldn't mind giving him a shot, heck, it can't hurt. But DJ is our best linebacker....we probably couldn't get more than a 3rd for him right now...and we aren't going to find anyone better.

I'm not prepared to say Davis will light the world on fire, but to call him overrated is a stretch. Could anyone have named any of the Browns 2008 starting LB's prior to us signing him? Probably not...but Wilcotts like to blow things out of proportion.

So, what Kirwin is saying is that the Broncos need about 12 first-round choices to make up for all the personnel blunders.

Not true at all. DJ could play Inner Linebacker in a 3-4, and I wouldnt doubt that he couldn't play WOLB in a 3-4. Lets compare him to James Harrison...he's more athletic than Harrison, he can go back in coverage because of his athleticism, he's a sure tackler, and at the point of attack he sometimes blows up his blocker.

Don't give me the "he's a horrible blitzer" shit, because it just isnt true. DJ never got a real opportunity to blitz under the scrub coordinators that Denver has had.

D'Qwell Jackson was the best of that linebacking core. I think we are going to have to agree to disagree here. But regardless, trading DJ would be a major downgrade to the position, and we wouldn't get equal value

Yup, we are a long way off. We are a few years away from going .500, but at least we'll have some high first rounders!

I'm already looking forward to 2010 draft...that USC safety, and I think it's fair to say we are going to suck enough to get him

Eric Barton was a Jet. He just joined the Cleveland Browns.

My bad, I mixed him up with D'Qwell Jackson
