I wouldn't celebrate until you find out what we got :ponder:

2+ first rounders, 2+ other 3rd or earlier picks and an impact player, and I'm happy.

Anything less, I'm disappointed, but not surprised.

Is that request unrealistic? Maybe, but again, losing a 25 year old QB is devastating...

Snyder Sucks: "We're giving away whatever is packaged in with Campbell for nothing. He and Cutler are virtually the same person performance-wise, and Campbell is TEN times the professional Cutler is. The whiny baby went to Vandy, got no publicity, and now is milking the star power of Denver by sticking his nose up and acting like he's Namath-esque in caliber. Snyder, why do you constantly shoot this team in the foot like this!?!?"

best of luck to Jay, hes going to kill it in the NFC east, in my opinion hes just as good as any other QB in that division, he now has a defense and a run game

Knowing that Snyder will break the bank for any big name player Im pretty confident we will get good deal in return and a chance to turn this organization around...

If we mess up in this trade and dont take advantage of the picks? its gonna be a long 10 years

Hopefully the rookies know what they are doing.

Seems to be the concensus for finding a franchise QB.

Sometimes takes less time, sometimes more but it seems 10 years is what everyone always references for whatever reason.

I'm sure it takes some teams 10 years...and then other teams less. it's a crap shoot either way, but I kind of like the success McD has on his side when it comes to making QB's out of nothings.

What is with everyone and the 10 year factor?

How many years did it take for Denver to find a solid quarterback when Elway retired? 8 years?

Not only does Denver have to replace a great talent at QB they need to install an entire new defensive line, 3 new starting linebackers, an entire new defensive back field (Champ, Goodman, Dawkins are all 30+ and we have no quality depth in the secondary)

This takes time even if you draft good, you realize that right? not to mention IF Mcdaniels and Xanders are flops and have short careers in Denver that sets us back another 2-3 years.

so like I said earlier... IF we dont take advantage of this trade and draft players that bust out It is going to be a long 10 years...

But knowing Snyder he will give us a lot of picks to work with, we could turn out as a better overall team from this trade... It all relys on Xanders and Mcdaniels... which is scary knowing this is the first year as GM and HC

CoachChaz
04-02-2009, 03:39 PM
I just dont see Cleveland making a deal with another QB as the centerpiece. Rumor has it that Mangini likes Anderson better than Quinn, so it would be a backup QB.

http://cbs4denver.com/sports/nfl.jay.cutler.2.974565.html

CBS4 Broncos Insider Gary Miller has learned disgruntled quarterback Jay Cutler is expecting to be traded as soon as today. Sources tell Gary that Cutler believes he'll soon be a Washington Redskin.

The Redskins have been frequently mentioned as a landing spot for Cutler in the past several days, and reports indicate Washington has been the most aggressive in their dealings with the Broncos.

We've learned that Cutler is in Nashville awaiting word on his fate. He was planning a trip out of Tennessee today, but we're told he decided not to leave with the possibility of a trade looming.

If Cutler is in fact headed to Washington, the obvious question then is, 'who does the Broncos get in return?' It's impossible to say for sure until any deal is done, but you would have to assume that Redskins' quarterback Jason Campbell would somehow be included in any deal. But Campbell doesn't necessarily have to end up in Denver. A third team could also be involved with Campbell going there.

All of which brings us back to the question, 'who does the Broncos get in return?' As Alan Gionet might say...Good Question!

Stay tuned.

I stand corrected. the fan might have had it right...

Broncos Flooded With Cutler Inquiries
Posted by Mike Florio on April 2, 2009, 2:45 p.m.
The Denver Broncos reportedly are getting plenty of interest in quarterback Jay Cutler.

The interest is so intense that, according to Mike Mulligan of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Broncos are requesting communications only by text or e-mail.

“Nobody can get a call back,” one league source told Mulligan. ”It could mean something’s happening fast, or maybe they’re just overwhelmed.”

Mulligan also echoes the notion that the Broncos want to send Cutler to the NFC, just as the Packers wanted to ship Brett Favre out of the conference last year.

If it’s true that the Broncos are flooded with potential suitors from either conference, a valuable byproduct is that the activity has, to date, kept the team from continuing the ill-advised pissing match with Cutler over the question of whether he failed to return phone calls.

In fact, the Broncos would be wise to say nothing at all about the situation until the trade is announced.

Then again, they would have been wise to say nothing at any point in the process, other than, “Jay Cutler is our quarterback.”

So, basically, coach Josh McDaniels apparently didn’t learn all that much during his years with Bill Belichick.

Man, Cutler must suck. All these teams must be really worried about his picks, fumbles and attitude huh. :tsk:

Bottom line is the guy is young 25yrs old and has all the potential in the world. Every other team out there see's it except for McDaniels. :tsk:

ya and to think people thought he wouldnt have as much trade value

Jeff George had all the potential in the world and how did it work out for him?

Right now Jay is a headcase. He might be a HOFer someday or a bust, right now he is a decent NFL QB where his stats are more impressive than his wins. Also his penchant for turnovers is key. If he wants to be considered great, he must stop that at all costs. We shall see.

The eighty million draft picks the Broncos were getting wasn't a tip that it was bogus?

The draft picks are believable. Youre talking about a perfect storm of trade value escalation. I young QB on an agreeable contract with great tools in an offseason where theres not much to pick from in the way of QBs. Plus you have Washington and NY in the mix.

BTW, Im guessing one of the details is wrong. Im guessing Cleveland will get a TE to replace Winslow. If you shift Scheffler/Cooley to Cleveland, it makes more sense.

http://cbs4denver.com/sports/nfl.jay.cutler.2.974565.html

It was NOT Scott or Alfred reporting that a trade is imminent with Washington - they had a sportswriter on from Washington

“Nobody can get a call back,” one league source told Mulligan. ”It could mean something’s happening fast, or maybe they’re just overwhelmed.”

Oh no, they're using Cutler's phone! :D

Washington's a pretty good landing spot, but I really wanted Cutler to Detroit. Washington's pretty good, though.

Washington has a 1st(13), 3rd(80), 5th(150), 6th(186), 7th(243).

The rumors are probably true that they're trying to trade Campbell for a 2nd to package to Denver, unless McDaniels wants Campbell, but I don't think so.

That 13 coupled with our 12 could allow us to get both Raji and Maualuga, so that could help fill our neet at NT and ILB. Not bad so far. :woot:

Nice! :salute:

I didn't see this when I posted.

I think we'll be pleasantly surprised with Orton; he has a lot of poise, and he almost never forces throws. He doesn't have great arm strength, but manages a game pretty good. I'm pretty sure McDaniels approved of Orton.

Now what will McDaniels and Nolan do with #12 and #18? This will be a fun draft.

Kyle Orton and only 2 picks that can be used this year. Yee haw.

After we waste these picks on players that don't produce it will be so awesome to hear announcers talking about how the Bears got one of the great steals of all time.

The Bears win, Cutler wins, and the Broncos fans lose.

Well, if it's any consolation, the Bears are getting older.

Cutler will be re-united with his Vandy teammates Chris Williams and Earl Bennett, but they really haven't made any noise last season. The Bears last year in their supreme wisdom traded away their 2 best receivers, and tried to make Hester their #1. He not only did not pan out as a #1, but his return game got weaker, and he's been replaced by Danieal Manning. Their receiving corps is weak. So their OC doesn't seem to know what he's doing.

On the bright side of their offense, though, Matt Forte is the type of RB we'd want Denver to have.
