Broncos coach Josh McDaniels sat down with NFL Network’s Scott Hanson on Monday at the NFL Annual Meeting and spoke about … Jay Cutler.

“He’s our quarterback,” McDaniels told Hanson in an exclusive interview that will air Monday night on NFL Total Access (7 p.m. ET).

McDaniels went on to say, “we need to keep the line of communication open” with Cutler, who asked to be traded last week after becoming upset over the team trying to trade him without his knowledge.

And how do we know this? Just because Cutler hasnt said McD said this to him, doesnt mean it wasn't said.

I could easily see the comment to Jay being, "You are our QB, but that doesnt make you or anyone an exclusive commodity. If something is offered that betters the team, we will investigate it."

I can see Jay, in that situation, not hearing the first 4 words, but it doesnt mean it wasnt said.

If Cutler came out on his own and caused this over money I would agree a 100%.

I think with the importance of the QB position, and McD having a hand in the current situation, I would hope he devoted all of his spare time to it.

Cook has already told McDaniels what he needs to do to mend this.

So has Madden.

All he needs to do is go to Jay, and say, you are the man, period.

End of story.

Once he does that, and I think he will, Cutler will be back on track.

He wont TRUST McDaniels, but he'll be back on track.

And I'll be happy cause the more I have to listen to idiots talking about how we should trade to get Brady Quinn under center here the closer I get to going O.J. on some hapless chap.................not gonna mention any names here.

Sage advice from OBVIOUS personnel masters.

I too think this will all come to a close, but I cant say how it will happen. I'd like to think that Jay and Josh come to a respectable understanding and that Josh doesnt have to kiss Jay's ass for merely being a coach looking to field the best team possible. But hell, who knows.

Well said, I feel the same way. I blame both sides and now Broncos fans are treated to game of poker wondering who will flinch first. Both are being stubborn, one will either have to be the bigger man and extend a peace offering to the other or a third party will have to intervene. I think it would be in McD's best interest to show he can rally the troops and extend his hand first. As it stands now, Cutler is our best QB option and one of the best up and coming QB's in the league. McD has to know our best chances of winning are having a well prepared Cutler on the field. As the leader and head coach McD should take the initiative, resolve this and start coaching Cutler up to his system for the upcoming season.

Something tells me if Cutler goes, we will have a hard time retaining any of our young, up and coming players. Not only that, but once we have a couple losing seasons, we will have a hard time drawing free agents due to McD's lack of credibility. Nice sell he did this year telling the FA's that we are ready to win now, then causing our best player to want to be elsewhere.

Like Tony Sheffler. He did not cry and whine about that.

Mike Lowell was hung out to dry by the Red Sox and was basically gone
if they signed Texiera. That fell through. Lowell accepted it like a man

and earn the rest of his $$

Yes McD gets blame as well.

Because I think you or I could have squashed this whole mess in a 5 minute telephone conversation.

Maybe...maybe not. Ever get into an argument with your wife and no matter what you say, she is still pissed and just cant seem to see your explanation?

I thought this was interesting. I'm sorry I don't know how to embed videos in a post.

I think Paige sometimes comes across as an oaf but I really do think that overall he's been fair in his assessment of the situation.

Yeah, it definitely isnt about 'kissin Jays ass'.

Its about Bus cook pointing out to McD that all he has to do is go and tell Cutler that he doesnt have to look over his shoulder.

If he cant do that, then Jay will be there at the first mandatory meeting.

End of story.

I think the thing that is most interesting to me is that McDaniels said they received calls and trade offers for other players as well. Why arent they and their agents joining forces with Cook and Cutler?

Seriously...I'm curious

If you dont know the answer to that one, then you obviously dont understand the QB position on the team.

Good point. And if we dont win, we will realize that situation.
