No no no no no.

The artists you reccomended to me, sorry, but no.

M-Pulse -- Is this a techno or house DJ? I do enjoy Jungle and DnB, but if this is the group/dj you want me to listen to, they sound like a Daft Punk Knock-Off

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis - I gave wings a shot. The best thing I can compare that song to was Atmosphere or Brother Ali rapping about a pair of Air Jordans. Totally not the content I'm looking for.

STS wasn't too bad. I liked the production on the couple of tracks I listened to, but the cat that was rappin' just didn't do it for me.

I don't think you understand the stuff that I'm into. I don't know if you check out the What are you listening to thread, but here's a few tracks to give you an Idea. I'll do one per post. But to start off, since today is Jay Dilla's birthday, I'll post this:

I always thought that Will Smith held Jazzy Jeff back. Oh, and J-Live kills Eminem every time.

Rap is terrible. How can you tell one shitty artist from the next?

It's all just opinion of course. Hell, there are people out there that think ABBA is the greatest band ever. Shit, I can't stand the Beatles. Music is much too subjective to even argue who's better than who.

I agree, but without debate like this, you have less of a chance of discovering an artist you might like. For example: I hate metal, but I love Antherax, and I would never have found out that I liked Antherax without Public Enemy doing a song with them. And I have tried listening to other metal artists, and I just don't get Metal.

well I guess I was wayyy off on what you would consider dope.

and M-Pulse is a rapper just not widely known by anyone outside of Chicago.

but hey high five for even checking them out.

liked that j.dilla beat you put up. the dudes rappin (slum village?) sounded average to me.

9th wonder beat was aight nothing special.

liked the sample that was used on that jazzy jeff track, it was nicely used. As far as J-Live?? never have heard of him

i've heard Elzhi before but nothing really jumped out at me.

I can see your into that late 80's early 90's hip/hop or anything that resembles that

let me see what I can put up that I like and you MIGHT as well

Good attempt. If that is you, you've got a decent flow. I have to admit that I was not digging the beats on it. The orbital sample was all right, but we'll both agree that isn't really my style.

I'll tell you this though, you've got way more balls than I do to put yourself out there like that. I used to do live open mic's, but that was just poetry. Much props to you my friend.

I think SV raps a bit better on this track off the same album. Also on that album, Dilla did all the beats and rapped on 80% of the songs.

I'm not feelin M-Pulse, or that track. But honestly, I HATE Chicago. We'll hate's a strong word for it. I would like to explore downtown Chicago a bit more, but I've been to Soldier field a few times and have visited friends there a few times. But I had to deal with snotty ass, self entitled, little brats from Chicago for at least 4 of the 6 years I went to the University of Iowa. I can't stand the people there.

yup that's def me man. I went hard at this rap game for a minute. I did a bunch of shows for a while. I have opened up for Cannibus and Planet Asia. I don't really listen to them but they have a nice following.

I dropped a 6 song demo. Made a ton of copies and tried to get them out. But as of right now that whole movement is stalled. Who knows if I ever go hard like that again. But I still write. I freestyle daily (that plus the Broncos) are my hobby.

I will give anything a fair shot. I try to keep up with hiphopsite.com since the guy that runs it was partially responsible for my hip-hop education. He used to spin for KUNV in Vegas on Saturday nights before he opened his store front in 2000. Before that in High School, all I had was Yo! MTV Raps and Rap City to try and find new music. I couldn't stand half the crap they played over the air, and I was the first kid on my block bumpin' Black Sheep and Busta'.

On the track you just posted, I almost turned it off until I heard the break beats.

HAAAA!!!! I know for a fact you like that song because of the BEAT. It's really dope no doubt but It's pretty old. I heard this artist on this though. the lyrics aren't all there but the flow is point and listen to how he molds to the beat in the end.
