INDIANAPOLIS -- The NFL is increasing the number of Thursday night games so more of its teams can play in prime time.

Commissioner Roger Goodell said that there will be Thursday night games on the NFL Network from the second to the 15th week of the season, giving all of the league's teams a chance to appear in prime time on some outlet.

Those games will be in addition to the usual Sunday night and Monday night games, which tend to feature teams coming off good seasons.

Just so long as the Broncos get a maximum of 1 game on NFLN, I'll be fine.

If Tebow starts, expect a lot of fighting over tv rights between networks...

If they're playing on Thursday Night the rest of the networks would be out of luck.

Didn't read the article but are they still having the first game of the year on Thursday?

Probably they will but not on NFLN.

Just to clarify, every team won't get a Thursday game since there are only 13 of them, but every team will get a primetime game.

from article:

"This will result in every team appearing in Thursday football games and every team having a prime-time appearance throughout the season," NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said at his annual state-of-the-NFL news conference Friday at the Super Bowl XLVI media center.

Well that would be impossible with only 13 games as 13 x 2 = 26 teams. There must be some thursdays with multiple games for every team to get one.

Thanksgiving takes it up to 15. One doubleheader takes it up to 16.

That makes sense I guess. The article just said 13 Thursday night games will be played this season. Thanksgiving would make it 15 but I didn't see anything about a doubleheader. I guess we'll see when the schedule comes out.

Edit: That's actually 14 Thursday nights. And the 2 Thanksgiving day games makes 16.

Math. I can't do it.
