Great, I reiterate my hope that they come out of the meeting with doogie saying "Jay is our man" and Cutty saying "It's all behind us, I'm here to learn coach's system and win some games"

There appears to be a resolution between Broncos coach Josh McDaniels and quarterback Jay Cutler.

"Josh and Jay will sit down and meet next week when Jay gets back from Nashville," said Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth.

And then Smyth, who said he was speaking on behalf of owner Pat Bowlen and McDaniels, made the following point of emphasis: "The Denver Broncos are not trading, Jay Cutler. Period."

Cutler was miffed that he was involved in a trade proposal that would have sent him to Tampa Bay and New England quarterback Matt Cassel to Denver. The trade never materialized and Cassel was dealt to Kansas City.

Smyth added neither Cutler or McDaniels would be available for comment.

Cutler's agent, Bus Cook, said Monday his client was still upset that it appears the Broncos tried to trade him.

"I do think under the circumstances it was very poor on their part if in fact they were trying to trade Jay," Cook said before Tuesday's developments. "You don't know what's true and what's not true. Depends on what you read. It's unfortunate because Jay was getting in the groove out there in Denver, and all this just threw him out of kilter."

A proposed trade last weekend would have sent Cutler from the Broncos to Tampa Bay in exchange for at least a first-round draft pick. The Broncos were to then trade Tampa Bay's pick to New England for quarterback Matt Cassel, whom McDaniels coached as the Patriots' offensive coordinator last season. Cassel instead was dealt to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Cutler felt betrayed McDaniels appeared ready to deal him away.

"I've heard I'm still on the trading block," Cutler said Saturday.

It's not known whether McDaniels or general manager Brian Xanders placed a call to Cutler.

Cook said he has spoken with Xanders, whom he has known for several years, but has never spoken with McDaniels. Cook said he does not believe Cutler has ever requested a trade.

This is great news and I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but they still have to work this out. I would hate to see Cutler holding out..

I will say this though, Cutler got what he wanted here, Maybe now he can stop worrying about the team trading him. Isn't that really what he wanted all along? with this the Broncos are saying, we want Cutler as our starting QB! We will not be trading him no matter the offer!

I think this is what he wanted, if I am correct, it should all be down hill from here.

I just hope Cutler doesn't test them to see if they really mean it.. I hope he can once again let his guard down and look to the future here. All say this though, if after this the Broncos go out and trades him, this organization will never be able to redeem itself in my mind..

BRONCOS SAY THEY WON’T TRADE CUTLER
Posted by Mike Florio on March 3, 2009, 6:22 p.m.
The Broncos “absolutely” won’t be trading quarterback Jay Cutler.

That’s the word from CBS4 in Denver, from Gary Miller.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network got something even more clear.

“Let me be as clear as I can about this,” McDaniels told Schefter. “We are not trading Jay Cutler — period.”

That said, we’re still not sure we believe the team. Our guess is that the Broncos are trying, on a last-ditch basis, to rebuild the relationship with Cutler by making it clear to him that he won’t be able to talk his way out of town. (There’s also a chance that the Broncos are trying to restore the market for Cutler, by persuading other teams that they plan to keep him.)

The next step comes next week, when Cutler will return to Colorado for a sit-down with coach Josh McDaniels.

Great news.

Funny, that's all Cutler wanted to hear when he heard he was being traded. Too bad they couldn't tell that to his agent, and instead cut him off from communications while it was happening. Good thing KC got Cassel.

Now we can focus on the Brandon problem.
