Others, not so much:

"If you look at our stats, whenever we have thrown it 35 or 45 times, it's been very lopsided, so I'd say they gotta stick to what they do because they know that better than they know this."-John Fox

We only threw 35+ passes against the Lions (39) and Bears (40,) so I'm not sure where Fox is looking. Looking at our stats, we never throw much unless ALREADY losing; THEN "50% of the time Tebow loses every time."

Most new coaches, even from day 1, are able to speak of the team in past tense. Ie. Before they arrived.

Under mcd, and with orton, they had no running game and thusly threw it 35-40x/game. And usually munched rug.

You're going with THAT explanation? Fox is explaining his game plan in terms of what we did a year and a half ago with a different QB and WRs? What about all the games we won with Elway and the Three Amigos?

this time of year, assume everything you hear from a player or coach is smokescreen. But then again, Fox will know Pitt will be expecting a smokescreen, so maybe he's bluffing by telling the truth. But Pitt knows Fox knows Pitt is smart, and Fox knows Pitt knows that, so they'll be expecting no smokescreen, so it probably is smokescreen.

You're move, Tomlin. You're move.

Truly, you have a dizzying intellect.

I get it: Foxs run obsessed ten year career has just been a gambit to lure the Steelers into a false sense of security for this weekend. I admit, it's worked: He's fooled the whole world, and if we throw more than a half dozen passes in the first half I'll be shocked. Mainly 'cos it'll be such a departure from what we've done for each of the last 11 games.

Tipping your hand is not "playing the percentages," especially against a masterminds aggressive D. As my mom likes to say, the problem with burying ones head in the sand is it prominently exposes a very tender area. ;)

Another article quotes Fox saying, "We've got to put him in positions where he can succeed... we'll try to give him some better pass plays to operate," but he immediately followed that with the phrase we all learned to dread when Orton was starting: "I think we're just doing what we think gives us the best chance to win." :ahhhhh:

Personally, I agree more with Willis and Deckers comments:

Matt Willis: "I don't think (throwing more short passes) is going to fix the problems. It's receivers getting open and catching the ball...."

Eric Decker: "I think the biggest thing in this league is to be unpredictable. Pass or run on first down, get 3, 4 yards, get second-and-short, allow ourselves more success."

It's pretty sad when second year WRs understand offense better than their head coach.
