Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin has made his decision.

Starting free safety will not play Sunday for the Steelers in a Wild Card playoff game here in Denver against the Broncos. Tomlin said in a news conference today that he spoke with Clark on Monday to tell him he would not be allowed to play.

“It was an easy decision for us. When looking at all of our data we came to the determination he is at more risk so we are not going to play him. It’s that simple,” Tomlin told reporters today in Pittsburgh.

He hasn't played the last two times...and I believe we lost to them on MNF.

Nah, it was reported the Clark didnt play the last time in Denver. Apparently the one time he did play he got severely ill so i feel for the guy but hope it helps our chances.

I appreciate that the Steelers are more concerned about the wellbeing of its player then the outcome of the game. I know a few autistics who also have sickle cell, so I know that this is something serious.

He played in the MNF game back in '09.

I just double checked and you're right he didn't play.

According to the following, they have only played twice since 2007 - the Broncos winning that one, and the Steerlers won in 2009.

Looks like a good resource site. I'll have to play around with it to compare it to my primary site that sometimes falls short.

He can't. The time before the last time we played them, he had a very bad reaction to the altitude with what I remember to be Sickle Cell Anemia. They didn't play him the last time as a precaution and I don't think they will ever let him play here for the same reason.

Yep. I had completely forgotten about the fact he has Sickle Cell Anemia.

He lost his spleen and gall bladder last time because of the reaction. That some serious stuff.

I assume he doesn't get a reaction flying because the cabins are pressurized?
