The Broncos on Thursday made their first change to the defense by cutting defensive tackle Josh Shaw.
The team also signed Matt McChesney, a former player at the University of Colorado and Niwot High. Denver signed McChesney as an offensive guard although he played defensive tackle in college.
Shaw ended the season on injured reserve after injuring his elbow Nov. 28 against the Jets. He played in five games and made three tackles. He missed three games early in the season because of a groin injury, and was suspended for a game on Oct. 20 after getting into a fight with a teammate in a meeting during the week.
McChesney, entering his third year in the NFL, was cut by Miami on Monday. He played in one game for the Dolphins but hurt his knee and ended the season on IR.
