There's a thread for metal, so here's one for every genre. These are ones that I see myself replaying for years to come. It was a solid year for hip-hop, so i'd recommend these to anybody.

In order of greatest to great:

Radiohead - King of Limbs

I have four of those albums, I'll have to check the others out. Seems we are similar in our tastes.

Good picks. The only album I haven't checked out is the New Radiohead. It took me a while to get into anything after In Rainbows, its a little too out there for me. I'll check it out though.

Yeah, In Rainbows was the first Radiohead album I got and I just could not handle it. I thought it sucked. A couple months later I listened to it and loved it, now it's one of my favorites ever. Since then, i've learned that Radiohead albums are meant to grow on the listener. I hated King Of Limbs as well when I initially bought it. It's more or less been on my shelf the past handful of months, but the past month or so i've been loving it and now it's moving of my list of favorite Radiohead albums. So good, but not really similar to In Rainbows.

Moral of the story, don't give up on Radiohead, cause i've been unimpressed anytime i've listened to anything Radiohead for the first time.

I really wanted to like the Foo Fighters album, but I just don't like it very much. Way too...anthemic might be the word. Walk was good the first few times i've heard it but now it just sounds like a cheesy arena rock song.

Radiohead, TV on the Radio, Beastie Boys, and the Strokes. I like a lot of hip hop, so I'll have to check the others out.

I felt the same way the first time I listened to OK Computer. LOL. One of the best albums ever.

^Sweet. Shabazz Palaces is really experimental but I love it. It's done by one of the guys that was in Digable Planets. The album is streaming on youtube somewhere actually. And Childish Gambino is Donald Glover from the show Community.

Same thing with OK Computer haha. It's second behind In Rainbows.

The Black Keys album was fabulous. And I agree with Thnikka, Undun by the Roots was great. Do EPs count? Because the Mumford & Sons/ Laura Marling vinyl for Record Store Day was terrific IMO (though only 4 songs).

But I have a huge jones for Mumford & Sons at the moment.

My favorite album that came out this year was Trivium's "In Waves". If you're in to metal, this is a great, great album.

Yeah, no shit, but this thread is just titled "2011 Albums of the Year". I didn't think I saw any disclaimers for genres in this thread.

It's so bitter sweet now that the black keys are popular... You listen to a band for 6 or 7 years and you tell everyone you see to give them a listen and they just kinda brush you off and now that they are popular you get the same mental midgets come back to you and say "hey you should hear this black keys band". faggots.

If you like Hip-Hop at all, you owe it to yourself to pick up Section.80 by Kendrick Lamar.

Such a dope album.
