Since Kiffin came to town, he has gotten quite a few surprie names into Knoxville for official visit. The past 2 weekends have been flled w/ all star talent. Even if he only adds15-20% of the visitors over the past 2 weeks, he could have top 10 class. 23 commits so far, which is a pretty big number to be expecting more, bu there are always some that go to prep schools, dn't ever see college or get red-shirted.

Top of the commit class is LB Jerod Askew of Chesapeake, Virginia

Next would be David Oku, RB, Midwest City, Oklahoma...although his verbal is consicdered "soft".

The Vols currently have good RB depth, but 2 new addiions should help immensely. If David Oku does sign, he is the #1 rated all-purpose back. Toney Williams, a 3 star recruit, is a bruiser at 227 lbs.

David Oku, RB (#1 all-purpose), Midwest City, Oklahoma

Toney Wiliams, RB (#53), Alpharetta, Georgia

#13 RB, Eddie Lacy of Geismar, Louisiana is also considering the Vols

I'm wondering where my sisters' loyalties will lie. Undergrad at NC State, now in vet school in Knoxville. Knowing her, she'll find room for both. From what she told me, the QB play was less than stellar last year.

I liked Phil Fulmer, I even named a fish I had after him.

I think Kiffin will help Tennessee get back on track. I'm pulling for him.

It sounds like he's doing well. I'm sure you're excited Smilin'

Wide Receiver should be a brightspot for the Vols once again. Not only do they already have 3 commits, 2 of which are in the top 20 at their position, but they are also getting very strong consideation from 5 others who ae all top 25 at WR.

Commits include:

Nu' Keese Richardson, WR (#9), Pahokee, Florida

James Green, WR (#17), Tallahassee, Florida

Zach Rogers, WR (#54), Nashville, Tennessee

Stole Richardson from the Gators and Orson Charles is still thinking.

When was the last time WR was a bright spot for them? Manning + Peerless + Nash?

2 years ago. They had a badass trio w/ Robert Meachem leading the crew.

Duh, I forgot all about that. Who else was a WR there then? Ainge was QB, correct?

Offensive Line, although currently strong, isn't looking to incur a strong class. To date only 3 OL are committed, and one if them may swith to Auburn after a recent visit. There is 1 prospect who never considered UT until a HS teammate of his committed. He'd be a HUGE land if we got Marcus Hall of Cleveland, Ohio.

Current commits include:

JerQuari Schofield, OT (#20), Aiken, South Carolina

SmilinAss...

Do you know if LB Derrick Webb visited?

He gave CU a soft verbal commitment but he was still going to make his last couple visits I think.

He was at Kentucky 2 weeks ago. I don't think the Vols even made him an ofer.

Linebackers should be as deep as usual. They kept Marlon Walls after his season in prep school and landed the #6 ILB in Jerod Askew. Add to that another 3 star commit and another still considering and the LB corps should be solidified. Already committed:

Jerod Askew, ILB (#6), Chesapeake, Virginia
6'0", 230

Marlon Walls, ILB (no rank/prep), Chatham, Virginia

Greg King, ILB (#31),

Robet Nelson, ILB (#35), Stone Mountain, Georgia

The defensive backfield could use a nice push from the recent visitors. The #1 CB and the #9 Safety are looking at the Vols. Otherwise, we have 2 very nice commits and two 4star atheletes who could end up as DBs. Commits include:

Janzen Jackson, CB (#2), Lake Charles, Louisiana
6'0", 174
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/27atwater/janzenjackson.jpg

Eric Gordon, CB (#16), Nashville, Tennessee
5'9", 187

Mike Edwards, CB (#48), Cleveland, Ohio
5'10", 170

Darren Myles, Safety (#9), Atlanta, Georgia
6'1", 175

ATHELETES include:
Marsalis Teague, ATH (#28), Paris, Tennessee

Damien Thigpen, ATH (#25), Manassas, Virginia

Defensive Line is my biggest area of concern. Unless there are names out there that I am unaware of, the Vols will be relying on a couple of JuCo transfers. Commits include:

Rae Sykes, DE, Coffeyville, Community College
6'4", 240
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y26/27atwater/raesykes.jpg

Arthur Jeffrey, DT (#55), Sarasota, Florida

Aubrey Phillips just shocked just about everyone, decommited from Tennessee and committed to....Florida State.

#31 ILB, Greg King of Memphis Tennessee has reportedly decided on Tennessee as well. I'll believe this one when he signs. Rivals sayshe was pretty high on Auburn after his visit there.

#6 Weakside DE, Sam Montgomery of Greenwood, South Carolina is aparently also a legit possibility.

I'm kinda pissed about Kiffin telling Tajh Boyd he should consider looking elsewhere even after he committed to UT. He's the #4 rated pro-style QB nd Lane just tells him he isn't a good fit??? Has he seen UT's QBs??? At least he decided on Clemson. They're probably my 2nd favorite college team.

Clemson has a real nice class coming in. Not big at all, but very strong nonetheless. Boyd is slated to call the #1 player in the country, RB, Bryce Brown and 4star WR Kendall Kelly in an attempt to add them to the list. They didn't have many holes to fill, scholarshipwise, but Dabo appears to be doing a great job so far.

Nice day so far. In addition to the already committed, UT landed:

#9 WR, Nu'Keese Richardson
#9 Safety, Darren Myles
#28 Athelete, Marsalis Teague
#31 ILB, Greg King
#35 ILB, Robert Nelson

That means we got 3 top 20 WRs (assuming Sokes signs) and the 54 WR.

Also gives us 5 ILBs, 4 of which are rated in top 35. Some will convert to OLB or DE.

Still waiting for:
#1 CB Dre Kirkpatrick...Bama
#5 WR, Marlon Brown...Georgia
#7 WR, Orson Charles
#24 WR, Kendall Kelly...LSU

Well...Stokes didn't sign afterall, but we are still in the mix for Orson Charles who actually wants to play TE.

Kiffin said in his presser that we aren't done and he expects to make a big splash "real soon." Most are saying that all signs point to Janzen Jackson, a 5star guy, who is the #2 CB in the nation. He's signing tomorrow AM.

Kiffin also said we could get a surprise down the road as well. #1 player in the nation, Bryce Brown, RB, is wavering from his soft commit to Miami and UT is definitely in the mix. He'll be visiting in a couple of weeks.

Adding even 1 of these guys would be huge. Many believe we have a legit shot at all 3.

Janzen Jackson is a VOL!!!!! This helps this class quite a bit...and steals away a Louisiana kid.

Apparently we look to be getting the #1 All-purpose RB today as well. David Oku should be signing at 5PM.

David Oku has finally signed w/ the Vols. He is the #1 all purpose back in the nation.

Still waiting on Orson Charles to decide.

Top recruit Bryce Brown signs with Tennessee

The Associated Press

WICHITA, Kan. --Standout high school running back Bryce Brown has signed a letter of intent with Tennessee.

The nation's top-ranked recruit announced his decision from the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame in Wichita on Monday.

The Wichita East High School star had narrowed his final choices to Oregon, Miami, Tennessee, Kansas State and LSU.

He committed to Miami a year ago but chose not to accept the school's scholarship offer before it expired on Feb. 18. His brother is Miami linebacker Arthur Brown.

During his announcement, Bryce Brown first pulled out a Miami hat, then handed it to his brother before pulling out a Tennessee hat.

Rivals.com and several other services rated Brown the top recruit of this year's high school class.

WOW...this class just got incredible. W/ Bryce and Oku signing over the past week or so, this may jump into top 5 caliber. I'm friggin stoked.
