View Full Version : No Primetime Flex for the Broncos

Figured this deserved a new thread since many were waiting on the announcement. I'm bummed....

The Broncos' game against the Patriots will not be moving to prime time.

The NFL was considering moving the Dec. 18 game to NBC's Sunday Night Football slot instead of a Baltimore-San Diego matchup scheduled for that night. But CBS, which will show the game at its 2:15 p.m. kickoff, successfully fought the switch.

Too bad. Aside from the Jets/Broncos game all the Thursday/Sunday/Monday night games have been terrible lately.

I have no idea how this works since I thought NBC was allowed to grab it for Sunday Night because CBS chose to protect Jets/Eagles weeks ago instead of Patriots/Broncos.

I understand CBS made a compelling case to protect this one because they lost out on Tebowmania when the Broncos-Vikings game was flexed to Fox when NBC replaced the Patriots-Colts game with Saints-Lions. And this week's Broncos game is also on Fox.

I'm sure New England was adamantly against this as well because they have a Saturday game against Miami following the Broncos game.

They are against it, because they don't want to be embarrassed in front of a national audience.

I just hope they play the game here in NC, I'm getting tired of watching streams....

Then go to a Fng sports bar DISCO!!!

oh my gosh this is rediculous, almost every single sports bar has sunday NFL ticket and EVERY game is on

if you don't want to watch on your laptop, then stop being a house hermit and get out there in your Broncos gear and watch the game

I was glad last weeks game was on for me in South FL, and they didnt cut away for the pregame BS that others went thru, but the week before the wife and I were out at the local sports bar/rest

walked in the door at 4pm (for a 415 kickoff) walked right up to the manager and asked which TVs the Broncos game was gonna be on he looked down at his sheet and pointed the hostess on where to sit my wife and I for a great view of the big screens

now, I have to admit, at the beginning of the year and if it was an early game, we maybe got 1 TV and maybe a snicker from the manager, but now, every 3rd or 4th TV is on a Broncos game

just get out there and celebrate

Totally ghey. Thanks CBS, you bunch of fags... Now, you won't show it here in Tebow's hometown because you suck balls.

I think it's bullshit that CBS can even "protect" that game when they already picked which game to protect weeks ago.

Not happy...

It is my understanding that CBS will show the Broncos vs Patriots game as its national game which means it should/will be shown in Tebow's hometown because Jacksonville and all the Florida teams play either on different days or earlier on that day.;)

But don't let the facts get in the way of your ranting and whining.

Well, Balt@SD still has playoff implications, so their excuse was weak. NBC just wanted to grab the more intriguing game/headline. They wanted part of Tebowmania.

The doubleheader belongs to Fox that week not CBS. If you live in an AFC home market you won't get the game even though it is going to be the national broadcast.

I believe that Jacksonville plays on Thursday night so the Jacksonville market will receive the the national game that Sunday.;)

I am using Jacksonville as TT's home town because Jacksonville was identified as TT's home town in an article that came up when I Googled TT.

Denver plays on Saturday too....along with most of the league...and they have to travel to the East Coast...

The reason is that I don't believe that CBS will get the doubleheader (they have it this week here) so I don't get the Broncos/Bears this week and because the terrible Jagtards get top billing on CBS and play at 1:00 and there's no doubleheader for CBS, I won't get Broncos/Pats, either.

BTW, I don't mind night games in this time zone.

The Jaguars play the Atlanta Falcons on THURSDAY night, December 15th, NOT at 1:00 EST on Sunday, December 18th when the Broncos and Patriots play. Therefore, you will get to see the Broncos game because I have read that CBS intends to make that its national game.

Denver plays on Saturday too....along with most of the league...and they have to travel to the East Coast...Yes, but after Sunday's game, Denver goes to their homes and can be back at their practice facility at their normal time on Monday. If the game had been moved to Sunday night, the Patriots either would have had to:
1) take a flight that wouldn't arrive in New England until 5 a.m. EST in the morning or later or
2) stay over in Denver and fly home Monday morning.

Either way the Patriots essentially lose Monday as a preparation and practice day, which they don't lose if the game is played at its scheduled time. NFL teams usually prefer losing a day of practice and preparation at the end of the week rather than the beginning of the week because the teams are tapering their practices and essentially doing a walk through on the day they lose.

Ask and you shall receive. My finger got broken in my hockey game Wednesday night. Its doubtful it will be healed enough in time for me to make my game.

Thus, we are are once again free and clear. We will win the pats game cuz I can't go.

TNED- you now owe me the $100 doctor bill for X-ray and splint since you were the one who cursed me
