I know some of this is already on here, but thought it was a good "all in one" type article.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) -- New Broncos coach Josh McDaniels has hired Mike McCoy as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and added four other assistants to his staff.

The Broncos on Tuesday announced the hiring of McCoy and Mike Priefer as special teams coordinator, Adam Gase as wide receivers coach, Wayne Nunnely as defensive line coach and Ed Donatell as secondary coach.

McCoy, 36, spent the last nine seasons with the Carolina Panthers, where he's worked as offensive assistant, quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.

The only holdovers from fired coach Mike Shanahan's staff will be running backs coach Bobby Turner and offensive line coach Rick Dennison.

When Shanahan was fired, Pro Bowl quarterback Jay Cutler publicly criticized the move and pleaded for quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates to be retained.

But with his potential responsibilities shrinking, Bates opted to join Pete Carroll's staff at Southern California, where he'll serve as the Trojans' assistant head coach of the offense and quarterbacks coach.

Bates, 32, was Denver's quarterbacks coach for the last two seasons and took over play-calling duties last season, when Cutler set several franchise passing marks despite losing seven tailbacks to injured reserve.

Bates was given a two-year contract extension shortly before Shanahan's dismissal.

But owner Pat Bowlen hired another 32-year-old rising star in McDaniels, who coached New England quarterbacks Tom Brady and Matt Cassel, and will call the plays in Denver.

This is the second stint in Denver for Donatell, 51, who was the Broncos' secondary coach from 1995-99, tutoring the team's defensive backs during their back-to-back Super Bowl titles in 1997 and '98. He has 18 years of NFL coaching experience and spent last season as defensive coordinator at the University of Washington.

Priefer, 42, spent the last three seasons as Kansas City's special teams coach.

Gase was an offensive assistant in San Francisco last season, following six seasons in Detroit. Nunnely, 56, spent the last 12 seasons as San Diego's defensive line coach.

From RMN:

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels, with the help of defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, has filled out his defensive staff in recent days.
Wayne Nunnely, whose contract was not renewed by the San Diego Chargers, will coach the defensive line, Raiders assistant Don Martindale will coach linebackers and longtime NFL assistant Ed Donatell the defensive backs.
McDaniels could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Martindale had interviewed with Raiders brass earlier this month after his contract expired - the Raiders routinely sign their coaches to one-year deals that must renewed - but the team publicly denied a report he had interviewed to be head coach.
Some in the league said Martindale had hoped to be the Raiders' defensive coordinator.
Donatell served as a defensive coordinator with the Packers and Falcons earlier in his coaching career but spent this season as the University of Washington's defensive coordinator.
He also is a former Broncos assistant, having worked on Mike Shanahan's staff during the team's two Super Bowl wins during a stint from 1995 to 1999.
Donatell endured one of the more difficult seasons in college football history in 2008. The Huskies defense finished 116th out of 119 Football Bowl Subdivision teams, leading to the firing of coach Tyrone Willingham and all his assistants.
Donatell has also coached the secondary for the New York Jets.
With the flurry of hires McDaniels has made on the offensive side of the ball - adding offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and receivers coach Adam Gase and retaining offensive line coach Rick Dennison and running backs coach Bobby Turner from Shanahan's staff - the Broncos staff is almost entirely in place.

IMO, Martindale was a SOLID addition to our coaching staff

I would say that all of McDaniels choices seem to be very solid. Like many I would have like for us to have Dom Capers as our defensive coordinator, but Nolan in my opinion is more than capable of handling the job.

Not sure about Gase. 6 years in Detroit with first rounders galore at WR. The biggest under achieving WR group in NFL bar none..
I atleast was looking for a WR guru with a pedigree to unseat Fisch.

I don't think its so much that Gase was bad coach as it was that two of those four number one picks were just all and out duds.

Coaching Profile: Adam Gase
January 21st, 2009 by Harkov | Filed under Broncos, Coaching Profiles.
Adam Gase has been hired as the Wide Receivers coach for the Denver Broncos. Here is a detailed biography of Adam Gase’s coaching career, taken from the Detroit Lions Website (where he served as Quarterbacks coach).

Adam Gase was named the Lions quarterbacks coach in February after assisting offensive coordinator Mike Martz with the unit throughout the 2006 season. Now in his fifth season with Detroit, he began assisting the Lions coaching staff during the 2005 preseason, working with the running backs and quarterbacks.

Gase was hired into the Lions’ scouting department in February 2003, after spending the previous three seasons with the Louisiana State Tigers football program. He proved to be a valuable asset to Detroit’s scouting department. Gase’s responsibilities included informing scouts of prospective players’ character, maintaining the team’s draft board and assisting with opponent scouting.

While with LSU, the Tigers compiled an overall record of 26-12, including two bowl wins and one SEC title. In 2000, his first season at LSU, Gase served as a defensive graduate assistant with the team assisting in various day-to-day operations.

In 2001-02, Gase worked as a recruiting assistant and assistant to current Alabama Head Coach Nick Saban where he handled defensive quality control duties. Between 1996 and 1999, Gase earned a degree at Michigan State University where he also served as a student assistant for the Spartans’ football program then led by Saban.

so he and McD must have connected under the Saban tree.

plus they were not real deep in the QB pool either..or OLINE or RB.. all of which could cause WR issues..

lets hope he can teach our kids something..
