Need to know what we need to acquire and do you really think FA will be allowed by Pat now that mikeys is gone?

Poll to follow..

We need them all, along with another RB, WR and interior OL. End thread. Could have went in the Draft and Free Agency forum too.

dline dline and dline.

You can build a formidable defense of second tier players around the front 4, it's been proven and done before.

I don't understand why you think Bowlen is all of a sudden going to go "cheap."

No free agents?

What Missouri? You haven't come to expect cynicism from the poster who started the thread?

Good point.

I definitely think wise players would be better than unwise players...unless wise is code for "too old".

Pretty much everything but the Sam LB...a case could be made there though too...

DL is the PRIORITY!

We need a MLB who can inspire our D through leadership and intensity. Someone who's barking out orders and laying down huge hits. I don't pay much attention to college ball, but Maualuga really seems to fit the mold so that's who I'm hoping we land.

I agree; our defense has looked lost, brainless, sometimes overly cautious, and other times, overly aggressive, but most of all, undisciplined. They are in desperate need of a leader.

You look at the Raven's D, and their identity has always been Ray Lewis.

Hard for me to say what we need most without knowing if we are going to the 3/4 or staying with the 4/3

Offensively, C, G, and RB should be addressed. Wouldn't be surprised if Hamilton isn't with the team this season, and Kuper is relegated to backup.

Defensively, we all know what needs to happen there.

Exactly, and if its 3-4 then its Nose Tackle - first and foremost.

Hell yeah. Let's go out and sign Julius Peppers, Albert Haynesworth, Nnamdi Asomagua, Ray Lewis, Bart Scott, and Terrell Suggs.

Damn. Now that Shanahan's gone we don't have anyone left who knows how to beat the salary cap.

Now that Shanny is gone we will not have to beat the salary cap because we will not waste money on the likes of Dale Carter, Darryl Gardener, Boss Bailey, etc.

I think D line is our primary concern, or at least it should be.

if were going 3-4 we need a NT or better yet 2 because Thomas would project to playing end in a 3-4.

Crowder and moss would both stand up and project to OLB's. DJ would move inside.

*edit - I maybe pushing with the crowder standing up. Not sure where he fits in the 3-4

I don't know about that.
Crowder is big enough to play DE in the 3-4 if that's the way we go.

Doom and Moss could both play OLB in the 3-4. I do agree with Thomas playing DE though.

I kind of see Thomas as a waste in a 3-4 DE. I would love to see what he could do in a one gap system just going after the QB. I guess I'm still holding out hope for a 4-3 attacking defense, even though it really looks like we aren't bringing in Mcdermott.
