Here we go.
Oklahoma stopped on their first drive.
The stupid lineup quick, fake the snap, look for the play call from the bench is going to screw Oklahoma and take away their advantage of snapping the ball quickly.
It's a terrible thing to do with a defense that schemes right. Every time they do it, Florida changes their defense and the offensive coordinator adjusts.
I'm so sick of this offense in college. Call a play, let the quarterback figure out the audibles and go with it.

Oklahoma is going to have to get a lot more pressure than that.

They did a little, but I think they passed on all but one play. The one run that looked like it was going somewhere was called back.
Florida couldn't get anything going with their first two plays, but now they are on the move.

They are going to have to go to the short screens, because Oklahoma is not going to let Tebow beat them on the ground.

He has the arm strength, I'm just not sure he has the knack for when, or if, it needs to be thrown.
Bradford has every throw in the book.

Give Bradford time, and he will pick apart the defense if they insist on playing that cover-1 zone that I saw on that last play.

At this moment it does not look like MLB is a big need for the teams ahead of us but you never know, CIN could add him with Rivers but I don't know if they would want to go back to back LB's in round 1. There is the Rams but at #2 that is high. Rey will be in that area as well Top 20, but so much time still to go till April!

I think the Consensus Top 4 are Bradford, Stafford, Crabtree and the OT from Alabama. After that, it's a crap shoot, and if two of those top two teams DON'T take quarterback, one will fall to at least 10. It's possible that Mauluaga goes pretty high in that scenario, Spikes as well.
The top end of the first round is not loaded with offensive talent past the Top 4.

It doesn't give the offense an advantage. It slows down the "hurry up" and becomes advantage defense.

The interception was a crazy play. It wasnt like Samford just flat out threw it too the wrong guy. Bad luck there. But the 4th down call was bad. Gutsy, but bad considering what was on the line. I think Stoops really needed to redeem himself tonight and it didnt pan out for him.

Congrats to the Gators. Tebow is an outstanding kid on and off the field.
OU played their hearts out, but it just wasn't in the cards this year. Great season guys!

I second that.
Tebow, if he comes back for his senior season, WILL go down as one of the top 5 college FOOTBALL players of ALL time.
He might not be your prototypical QB, but the kid is a football player.

I know a lot about it, but missed that profile they did before the game started. Hoping to find it on youtube or something.

Evidently his family sold everything they owned to do mission work which Tebow and his siblings were apart of on a daily basis. They were home-schooled and Tebow was allowed to play on a high school team because of some kind of agreement or law in Florida (not sure which it was). Evidently several families overseas named their son's after Tebow.

CNN
(CNN) -- Since its inception in 1998, the NCAA's Bowl Championship Series has weathered criticism from nearly all directions.
Oklahoma faces off in the National Championship game Thursday against Florida.
1 of 2 But entering 2009, the BCS may encounter a perfect storm: a unique, bipartisan legislative current and the imminent thunderhead of an Obama administration.
The BCS is the system that chooses the contenders for college football's most prominent postseason games: the Fiesta, Orange, Rose and Sugar bowls, as well the National Championship game, which this year pits Oklahoma against Florida on Thursday.
The BCS relies on a compilation of polls and rankings instead of, to the consternation of many, actual competition.
In a post-election "60 Minutes" interview, President-elect Barack Obama made clear his stance on the issue: "This is important. I'm going to throw my weight around a little bit. [If] you've got a bunch of teams who play throughout the season [and] there's no clear decisive winner ... we should be creating a playoff system."
Republicans and Democrats alike each year are angered by what they see as inherent unfairness in the arrangement. In 2008, legislators -- for one reason or another -- drafted legislation to invalidate the BCS on grounds that it misdirects commerce. Watch how a playoff system could change college football »
In an April resolution, the House of Representatives formally, if not forcibly, condemned the BCS as "an illegal restraint of trade that violates the Sherman Anti-Trust Act" and also urged the Justice Department's Antitrust Division to investigate. Since this resolution, though, no serious action has been pursued.
And so, on December 10, Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas, took the next step, introducing the College Football Playoff Act of 2008.
Don't Miss
Sports Illustrated
If passed, this bill would "prohibit, as an unfair and deceptive act or practice, the promotion, marketing, and advertising of any post-season NCAA Division I football game as a national championship game unless such game is the culmination of a fair and equitable playoff system."
If passed, this bill would apply to any game that occurs after January 31, 2011. It would be enforceable by the Federal Trade Commission.
The BCS, of course, would have things go differently. Made up of the commissioners from all NCAA Division I-A conferences; the athletics director from Notre Dame, which isn't affiliated with a conference; and representatives from each bowl organization, the BCS governing body announced in spring 2008 that the system would be used through at least the 2014 season.
Later, ESPN outbid Fox for a four-year television rights deal with the BCS. To begin in 2011, this contract rests on the understanding that the current system will remain in place.
On Thursday, second-ranked Oklahoma will battle top-ranked Florida in the National Championship. Third-ranked Texas was responsible for Oklahoma's only defeat. Texas didn't play Florida.
Barton, the ranking Republican in the Energy and Commerce Committee, represents the 6th District of Texas. Two of his co-sponsors, Republican Reps. Michael McCaul and Lamar Smith, represent districts 10 and 21, respectively -- two of the four districts that collectively represent Austin, home of the University of Texas.
Regardless of lawmakers' personal affiliation with home teams, the official motivation for college football reform is the same as for any similar economic reform: to help the little guy compete.
The BCS is composed of eleven conferences. The six traditionally dominant conferences -- the Atlantic Coast, Big East, Big 12, Big Ten, Pacific 10 and Southeastern -- are guaranteed at least one berth in one of the BCS bowls. Each year, they are awarded $18 million, plus $4.5 million for each additional team that appears in a bowl game. Meanwhile, only one team from the smaller conferences -- Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West, Sun Belt and Western Athletic -- is given this opportunity.
For the 2006-07 postseason, an average of $25.5 million in revenue was awarded per large conference, while the small conferences averaged $5 million each.
As the argument goes, the larger postseason earnings provide an advantage -- in athletic recruiting, as well as for each university as a whole -- to the "power" conferences.
This is not the first time lawmakers have voiced their discontent.
In 2005, Barton summoned a BCS official before an Energy and Commerce subcommittee, but legislation did not result.
And in 2003, both the House and Senate Judiciary committees held oversight hearings to examine the BCS system, though the combined result yielded not much more than a sound bite from current Vice President-elect Joe Biden:
"It looks un-American. ... It looks like a rigged deal."

What a loss that would've been! Not every state allows home-schoolers to participate in high school sports.

Not sure I can put up with next year and the butt sex that ESPN is going to have with him.
Wow, did you hear Thom Brennaman back in the first quarter? if you think ESPN gives him butt sex, Brennaman was doing it without a condom. He was talking about how Tebow was "a better person than he is a football player" and then raised the saccharine bar to "anyone who is in the company of this man for five minutes will certainly have his life changed", I was astounded.
I hadn't heard that sort of over-the-top no-holding-back gushing by the media since...since... well, the last time Obama spoke. I was waiting for somebody to throw a flag at Thom for excessive genuflection.

This kid will NEVER be a stud in the NFL, and it's sad that someone will pay him a bunch of money to be a bust.
Not if it's the Chiefs. :D

I just can't believe, at the college level, that anyone would be questioning Stoops and his program...Dude has coached in 4 of 11 National Championship games and gets a bad rap because he's lost three...lol...
Does Marv Levy ring a bell? Dan Reeves? Bud Grant?

After watching this game, if I had a vote in the AP or Coaches Poll, I would rank them:
1. Utah
2. Florida
3. Texas
4. USC
5. Oklahoma

:salute:
I'm not convinced that Utah would be able to beat Florida on a neutral field, but with Florida not looking so dominant tonight and the Utes beating up on Alabama with quite a bit more ease than Florida did (to go along with our undefeated record), I just don't see how people can not vote Utah #1. If we had a cake schedule than I would be fine with voters not believing that we are for real, but we beat quality opponents this year.
I don't think that the Utes will be on top in the AP poll come tomorrow, but I think it would be great for college football if they were. It would totally screw with the BCS system if a mid major was voted #1 and probably make people push for a playoff even harder. At least I hope it would. Oh well, Utah has done all it can do and hopefully the fact that their is even conversation about Utah being number 1 is enough to send shock waves through the system. If only they would have let our 2004 team with Alex Smith (which was probably a better team than this one) play a real team instead of a mediocre Pitt team, we'd be even farther along in the quest for a playoff.

The FLA win wasn't unexpected. Oklahoma did at least show up this time. They've got a pretty nice player in Gerald McCoy. He opened some scouts eyes tonight.
They really did miss Demarco Murray IMO. The speed and strength of FLA was just too much in the end.

Florida's speed wore them down in the second half, very true, but Oklahoma failing to score from inside the five twice, could have made that game 21-7 at halftime.
I think that sapped a lot of their confidence.

I'm sorry, but Bob Stoops has coached in four of the 11 BCS National Championship Games...I think he's a good coach...
True! He's a good regular season coach and I don't think he'd amount to a hill of beans in the NFL!
To me in college football, the most important are winning your rivalries, winning home games, winning your conference and winning a NCG is a bonus!

Bob Stoops College Resume:
Winning rivalries: check
Winning Home Games: check
Winning conference Champs: check
Winning Nat. Championship: check
I think he's a great college coach. His home record, and number of Big 12 championships is pretty phenomenal, and more than adequate in rivalry games. Only (heh only) one national championship, but four appearances.

No one ever said he should leave OU! He's done a hell of a job. I believe some of his playcalls last night were suspect!

Yes. Kevin Wilson (OC) made some really bad calls. . .in fact I think the whole (edit: offensive) game-plan was suspect.
