I'm sure it's been discussed but it's in the papers, might as well post it with it's own thread.

The Broncos will not send a draft pick to the New York Jets after defensive tackle Dewayne Robertson played in roughly 50 percent of the defensive snaps last season, well below the 65 percent threshold that would have triggered a trade.

The Broncos had acquired Robertson last April in return for a conditional draft pick based on playing time. One condition was if Robertson played in less than 65 percent of the defensive snaps, the Broncos didn't have to compensate the Jets.

For now, the Broncos have nine picks in the 2009 draft — one in each of the seven rounds, plus an extra fifth-round pick from Seattle acquired in a trade for Keary Colbert and an extra seventh-rounder from Atlanta for Domonique Foxworth.

The Broncos could get higher than a seventh-round pick from Atlanta if Foxworth re-signs with the Falcons. An unrestricted free agent, Foxworth and the Falcons have opened preliminary negotiations on a new deal.

The Jets had a good defense this season, especially against the run without Robertson.

Altanta would be dumb not to sign Foxy...he was their best DB this year.

IMO that 7th will turn into a 6th.

Too bad we dropped a 3rd rounder/97th overall pick for him. :tsk:

He did get abused a lot having to play opposite of Champ.

And, so what's the deal with the pick from Dallas regarding Holland?

Isnt it a 2010 selection? Not sure.

yep...

from Dallas News:

"The Cowboys knew they were getting a motivated player when they acquired Holland on Aug. 28 for a fifth-round draft pick in 2010."

We should have kept Holland. That way we can let Wiegman go because he's thinking retirement. Then move Ben Hamilton to center for next season. Lichtensteiger for depth but it seems like he'll be thrust into the line up if Wiegman does not come back.

this is really good news about robertson. maybe we can squeeze in a kicker in round 7 so he can compete with prater.

also, i cant see the falcons not resigning foxy.

if he gets resigned then our picks are

rd. 1
rd. 2
rd. 3
rd. 4
rd. 5
rd. 5
rd. 6
rd. 6

You know what's funny?

In the end, Keary Colbert turned into our best free agent signing.

didnt we get a 5th rounder for him?

as sad as it is, i see why shanahan is gone. look back at all the dumb choices in free agency and in the draft and the list goes on and on.

The Broncos need help badly in kick coverage. We can use a few guys like WW in ST.
