Googling won't give the info, and ESPN makes no mention in their trivia archives that Elway appeared in his High School uniform on the cover of Sports Illustrated while still in High School.

Dunno know if he's the only HS football player to have done that, but we're trying to find the week of the issue he's on to settle a bar bet.

We distinctly remember because he lived on the next street from us and we all went to the same high school school, and we only subscribed to Sports Illustrated and Road and Track back then.

Any fan know of the Sports Illustrated issue he appeared on while in High School and in his football uniform?

Common sense would dictate that if it happened, you should easily be able to find it. He was on the cover in 82 playing for Stanford, but don't think he was there before that.

Elway was never on the cover of SI until he was at Stanford. Maybe you guys are thinking of a local rag.

Elway was on the cover of SI 14 times. The first was 11.8.82 when he was at Stanford.

Tebow has a documentary about himself on ESPN when he was in HS ("The Chosen One"). Does that count? :cool:

That was in an issue of "Young boys in uniform", and Im sure if you contacted Jerry Sandusky, he'd have a copy
