Fascinating. Harris was very good for being the 2nd best tackle on the team. Feels a little like a make-up selection for picking the Titans OT over Clady, but at least it's interesting. Harris is gonna get lost in the wash a lot playing across from Clady for the next several years, since LT gets more glory, so it's nice for him to show up here.

Good for him...definitely one player who I was completely wrong about. But I'm glad we have him.

Me too. Not that I didn't think he was a good player, but serious back surgeries in back-to-back (ha) seasons? Looked like a bust waiting to happen.

Hope that back holds up the right half of our line for a decade now.

But Thanks for sharing. I love our Oline. Its funny how what a difference a year makes.
I hated them last year.

At least 1 player from our 2007 draft class won't be a complete bust. :elefant:

Im glad to see Ryan Harris getting some positive mention, as some have said, along with Clady, and Weigman. I think Harris did a GREAT job protecting Cutlers Right side. Not bad for a 2nd year player who really didn't see much action at all his 1st year. I think the Offensive line was one of the FEW productive areas of the Broncos this season.

I really hope that you're kidding. Did you watch the Broncos play football at all this year? Did you not read the stat line? 2.5 sacks given up in almost 650 drop backs.... Yeahh.. real mediocre.

I attribute that more to playing next to Graham and Cutler's quick release, awareness, and mobility.

We didn't run for squat this year to the right side, and Harris got away with some questionable non-calls on holding throughout the season.

He had Manning as his MVP, but not on the roster. Something seems wrong about that.

I'm happy for Harris, it's just bad that Clady didn't make the list.

Actually, we were second in the league off right end. 10th on inside runs to the right.

I wouldn't say we "didn't run for squat" to the right side.

Did you watch any Bronco games? Graham didn't babysit Clady OR Harris much this season. Cutler's quick release helps, but there were times when he was sitting back in the pocket having a cup of coffee and reading the morning news while he was waiting for a receiver to come open. Give some credit where it's due Dook.

True, but one can't argue against Roos. He's the only one, IMO, who should
be listed at LT if Clady isn't.

Actually, we were second in the league off right end. 10th on inside runs to the right.

I wouldn't say we "didn't run for squat" to the right side.

Those same numbers state that the Broncos are the best rushing team in all of football, and we all know that's not true at all. They show that we had the 30th most rushing attempts in the league, meaning we were passing A LOT and teams were probably defending against the pass. In other words, our yards-per-rush were inflated due to our offensive gameplan and lack of a running game.

But look at the numbers in relation to themselves.

Left end: 1
Left tackle: 5
Inside: 4
Right tackle: 10
Right end: 2

Out of all our runs, our weakest area was right at Ryan Harris.

Because of that, take note of where we ran the ball:

Left end: 14%
Left tackle: 14%
Middle: 51%
Right tackle: 12%
Right end: 9%

In other words, we ran the ball to the right less than any other direction. If Ryan Harris was our best lineman, wouldn't we be running at him more?

I'm not saying he didn't have a good year. He was a first year starter and did better than I expected. But you would have to be wearing some seriously-thick orange tinted glasses to think that Ryan Harris is THE premier right tackle in the NFL.

Those rankings by Peter King were hardly explained and looked like he just threw up some non-comparative statistics to back his lazy picks. Cutler got sacked the fewest times in the league, so Harris giving up only 2.5 sacks is not necessarily an AMAZING accomplishment. Now, if Cutler had been sacked 40 times and he had given up only 2.5, then it would mean Harris was pretty impressive. But that's not the case here. He clearly benefited from Cutler's ability to recognize and avoid pressure. From how I see it, Harris isn't even the best tackle on the team, and definitely not the best in the league.

If Harris was in a contract year and demanded 10 mil per year since he was the best right tackle in football, GM-me would kick his ass out the door. Harris is a system player who looked good in this Broncos offense, but an all-pro player he is not.

It is an amazing accomplishment. Any time your quarterback drops back 600+ times and you only allow him to get touched 2.5 times is an amazing feat. Ryan Harris is not a strong run blocker, but he is superb in pass protection. With another year of experience and guidance, he will continue to get better. He is not an All-Pro player, but he is a very good player. He fits into our system well and his strengths are accentuated by the way we play ball on the offensive line. That's not a bad thing. That is why a lot of people are put in good scenarios in succeed in the NFL. They get placed in the right situation.

Holding that against him is retarded.

.

no one would disagree with you on that. everyone knows Clady is better. but he's a LT and Harris was picked as having the best season at RT. could be a stretch but it still shows he had a good season.
