View Full Version : Champ vs Calvin Johnson

Champ versus Megatron. Will it be worth the price of admission. With all the Tim Tebow hype this match-up could be game deciding. Joe Thiesman says Champ is still the best in the game, but going up against arguably the best receiver in the game, Champ is going to need to bring his A game to the table. Will Champ match-up with Johnson all game or will we see Champ in the slot on obvious passing situations. Personally, I would like to see Champ shadow Megatron all game. I'll be watching this battle closely. Hopefully, I get my 60 minutes worth.

Galvatron was always much cooler than Megatron IMO.

So calling someone Megatron is like saying "Yeah, you are kinda cool but not as cool as Galvatron".

And for all of you who have never seen the 1986 Transformers Animated movie, shame on you. It is 784,555,854 x more awesome than any stinking pile of shit Michael Bay can put out.

I wanna see Champ lock him down.

Megatron is a beast though, especially in the endzone.

The way to stop CJ is to crush Stafford.

Unfortuantely, Megatron is beastly. The dude catches passes with 3 defenders on him. Champ is good but old, i just dont think he will be able to hang with Megatron.

Hopefully it's Shaun Hill at quarterback and not Matthew Stafford. That changes things a little in the Broncos favor.

(I wish no injury on any player, just saying if Stafford is out, for whatever reason, it benefits the Broncos strongly.)

I'm with you on this... will be a HUGE plus for the team..... although I think the Lions possibly not having Kyle Vanden Bosch for the game is just as much a plus for our team.

The odds are like 1000:1 that we see Hill start if Stafford was practicing on Wednesday.

I heard an interview with one of the Detroit beat writers yesterday. According to him, Hill took the first team reps. :noidea:

OK, it sounds like he practiced "on a limited basis".

The guy I heard on the radio yesterday sounded pretty doubtful about him playing this week, FWIW.

Its not megatron we need to worry about. It is that damn tight end they have Pettigrew.

When champ locks up CalvinJ, pettigrew is going to burn us. Then we might have champ shadow petty and megatron will Own. Hopefully Doom and Von can strait up get after it this week. I do have megatron in fantasy so if he could catch a few passes I wouldnt mind. But he does not need to score or get any tds.

CJ is the most dominant WR since Randy Moss. There isn't a DB in the league capable of covering him one-on-one all day long without some help over the top.

That said, at least it's strength on strength, unlike when we play top-tier RBs.

Champ can shut him out, Pettigrew can burn us if Mays does not contain him over middle. But if we can get a sack or two on Stafford he may not stay in game if he is playing.

Pressure definitely would be our secondaries best friend and if Stafford plays hurt...It may rush him some. I believe Champ can hang with Megatron. I don't believe he will shut him out but he can limit him. Champ has a habit of not giving up many touchdowns. He needs to keep Johnson out of the end zone. Will he?

Last year he shut out Bowe and Fitzgerald. As long as the ball is not just thrown up high for Johnson, Champ can make a play on ball like usual. But if he has to fight for the ball Johnson will win.

Honestly, I think we've reverted to that since the Cassius Vaughn debacle. The last two games, Champ has covered the #1 guy and Wilhite, and then Harris in the Miami game, lined up in the nickle.

I think Vaughn's speed was the reason he started out as the #3 CB, but since his coverage skills need improvement, it looks as if he's been demoted to #4 or #5.

Calvin doesn't catch very many passes in the first half. So I expect to see Johnson have 0 catches in the first. Fans around here will cheer that Champ is shutting him down, and then we'll see Calvin step up in the second.

For some reason, the Lions don't target Johnson in the first half of games. I mean, sometimes it's literally 0 pass targets.

I don't care if Johnson has 100 yards and 2 TDs as long as we win. Stats don't mean much unless you're big into fantasy football.

I would be thrilled if Johnson has no pass targets at halftime. I guess I'd better be locked-in, in the second half. Champ better be all game.
